Yeah, I know, I asked for it. Being impatient I ordered a Japanese spec PSP and somehow failed to notice the bit where you set the language at first power up. So now it's all in Japanese. I don't suppose anyone knows the keystrokes needed to set the menu language to English? I tried for hours last night with no success.

I suppose I can always sell it on E-bay!

Just a thought, but surely if you tug the battery and leave it for a while you'll be able to start afresh and get it right?

I'm surprised there isn't a hard reset button somewhere on it that sets everything back to default...

I tried taking the battery out but I didn't leave it
for long. Can't see a reset button.

Theres probably a small battery inside that keeps the settings alive.

If you crack it open (perhaps unadvisable), locate the battery and pull it that should reset it, but I dont know what else it will lose.

There must be loads of info on this on Google, shirley?

I just cut and paste this - it may help:

-------------
You can set the menus in the XMB (Cross Media Bar) to English from the System settings. If you move the cursor all the way to the left, there is:

Network Update
USB Connection
Video Settings
Photo Settings
System Settings
Date & Time Settings
Power Save Settings
Sound Settings
Security Settings
Network Settings

In the "System Settings" (5th from the top), the first option is for changing your system's "nickname", the 2nd is for setting your system language.
-----------
Hope this helps

Here you go.

Go right over to the left hand side until you get the settings area. Icon looks like a toolbox.

Then go down to the icon that has a spanner. Alternatively go all the way down until you can't go further, then go up 5 clicks.

Press Circle.

Down 1.

Press Circle.

English should be shown. If it's in Kanji (it shouldn't be), it's the bottom setting.

Press Circle.

You should then be able to press X all the way back.

Have you ripped DVDs to it yet?

Absolutely superb machine.
