I found out last year, that in addition to 20% of all music played across world radio is by a british artist!
- an all when condering we're smaller in population to say america, germany, russia, china, india, japan, pakistan, an brazil.

But also, that ONE THIRD of all computer games are created in Britian !

so in wondering what they were, i came up with these findings from browsing the www - but feel free to add any more

maker - games,..
core design - tomb raider, thunderhawk, project eden
codemasters - colin mcrae rally, toca, micro machines
climax - diablo, warcraft, shadow dancer
bungie - halo, myth, Oni
rareware - perfect dark, goldeneye, donkey kong
cyberlife tech - creatures, sea monkeys, Ms.Pacman
gremlin graphics - switchblade, actua soccer, zool
??? - any more...

Actually I think it was DMA (creators of Lemmings) who created GTA - they then teamed up with Rockstar & became Rockstarnorth

I remember seeing them mucking around with GTA a year or so before it was released - I think they had done it for their own amusement - I remember thinking "That looks amusingly un-PC - bet they don't release it"
How wrong I was!

I'm not sure where you got that figure from, but I would be extremely suprised. Japan and the USA account for the vast majority of game production...

I'm sure EA is American - I think the biggest publisher in the world. Also there is a difference between Publishers and Developers.

Those people with that bloody annoying sponsor's advert at the begining and end of every break on Sky One's Battlestar Galactica series - Digital Jesters.

Pitbull Syndicate make the Test Drive series up here in the Newcastle. WildfireS3 used to work for them.

Reflections who made the Driver series are up here as well.

Bizarre creations are british. I used to work with the owners dad.
He has a great story about how his son pleaded for a computer when he was really young and got a commodore 64 for his bedroom. It all started from there, writing programs all day. He did F1 1997 in his bedroom!

Both of these statements are probably correct - UK produces 1/3 of all computer games & USA & Japan produces the vast majority (i.e. 2/3rds)
We certainly punch way above our weight - historically this is probably all because of Clive Sinclair & his jolly littly ZX computer series - meant a whole generation of kids grew up with computers in UK, way before they took off elsewhere in the home

aren't Papyrus up in Scotland as well - the makers of Nascar/Grand Prix Legends

Warthog was British until it was sold recently (of Richard Burns Rally / Rally Championship Xtreme fame).
