Anyone here play FarCary online? Been playing it a while now with a mate of mine and its a blast - some of the maps available are awesome. Would be nice to get a few PH'ers on our server occasionally.

I do! Usually just pick a random server with a decent ping, and join in!

Can you host a server using your ip address as normal? It's just when I looked at the multiplayer screen it didn't seem to have the option?!

Sure can. Typically my mate sets up the server and I join. We currently play just the 2 of us, but it would be great to get some others online.

Just login to Ubisoft and choose to start an internet game.

I'll post next time we have a server going with teh name and password, then anyone can join.

Ah I see, so you have to log into the Ubi system to host then? Bit of a pain really, most other games allow you to host directly from your PC without having to connect to external servers

Not quite true - you have to log in to verify your games authenticity, but then you host the game on your own PC and implement PunkBuster too if you want

We are tending to run different maps to normal that we've found really good for small numbers of players on FFA. We have the Tournament Pack from www.farcry-thegame.com/uk/home.php and also:

Evil-Island
mp_atoll
mp_pandora

Worth downloading these from www.farcry.ubi.com/maps_mp.php

It sounds like you've been getting some practice in since we played CoD!

I'm having trouble getting hold of the tournament map pack. Is it the same as the Ubisoft Map Pack (www.farcry-maps.com) which weighs in at a hefty 126MB?

Yes, it's huge, and to be honest, we only use one of those maps! The other individual ones are better for Free For All and smaller to download.

I'll try to join, though it's the first time I've tried it online and I only have the maps that came with the game

Doesn't look like I can get in, I get the message 'Kicked!' when trying to connect. What am I missing?

Update...
And now the server is full... can you enable more players?

punkbuster is complete garbage, why would you want to implement it?

Id join you buys if I had farcry, but I dont. I still need some PH fellas to take me on in CS sometime.

I get "Game versions don't match!"

Is there a patch, or are you guys playing the demo version or something?

I'm patched up to v1.3

Googling for "far cry tournament map pack" gave me an alternative download site for the maps, that might help. It's an even bigger download than the one I mentioned before - 188MB!
