PS2 was a present for xmas - along with GTA San Andreas and Tiger Woods 05. Now wanting a solely driving game too. Would like something with some street racing and some track racing too but in everyday sports/supercars if possible.

Any thought on Midnight club2? Its on offer for less than a tenner at MVC and I have an old gift voucher to use there....

www.mvc.co.uk/common/category.jhtml?CATID=cat10507

any other recommendations if thats a pants choice?

Midnight Club 2 is o.k. but not amazing. Worth a punt if it's cheap, should provide a few evening's entertainment.

cheers mate - I get the impression its a sort of "fast and the furious" style game? is that right? its the sort of cheap fun entertainment that will hit the spot for a bit in between the longer time it takes to master GTA.

Fast and the Furious exactly, a bit of quick action with NOS and blurry graphics when you speed up.

the gameplay is not bad really, the city tracks look great. The only problem is, that you need to learn the routes through the cities before you have a chance of winning (especially the later levels)

good for a stop-gap until GT4 eventually hits the shelves. Isn't there a Need for Speed 2? That might be worth considering.

Sorry to harp on about this, i won the Codemasters stuff recently, Cheers Ted and Co, Toca 2 was included as was Colin McRae 05, both good games, toca 2, well, i'm kinda addicted at the mo, about half way through my career to unlock all the fun stuff, good mix of Rally, Rally cross, circuit driving and city driving, in anything from Formula fords to the XKR series i'm in at the moment, worth it for me, but then it was free

Burnout 3 is excellent. Points for drifting, points for driving into oncoming traffic, points for crashing into people, ability to steer the wreck into other drivers WHILST you're crashing...

Top game!

Need for speed underground 2 is pretty good. Got sprint, circuit, autocross, drifting, drag racing etc etc... Quite an entertaining game and a good soundtrack. Is the sort of game you can spend 10 minutes or 10 hours on if you wanted. You can get some superb arseout in the cars as well once you master them. If you want realism though get GT3 for now - its only a score.

Gets my vote if you are after an 'arcade' racer, get GT3 for the circuit stuff (saw it in Game S/hand for £8 - Bargain).

But, in my opinion all of these are just temporary measures until GT4 comes out.

BTW - if you want to shoot stuff may I also recomend Killzone - great fun.

cheers for the help guys. Plumped for Gumball 3000 in the end. I just wanted a quick and easy 30 minute a time car racing game so thought this would fit the bill. For £8 its not too much upset if it gets played once and then chucked...
