Got mine from Amazon.co.de on Friday and I've been playing it the last few days.

Now, after lots of extensive play, I'm loving the handling, the graphics, the sound, the replays, the cars and the fun! However, there's a problem that not even the developers could have solved, the bloody tracks! The circuits have come from the GT series calendar, but sadly (apart from Spa) their all quite flat, boring and 'safe'. Maybe I've been playing GPL too much and I need some old 60s tracks to thrash around.

Anyway, some nice bloke has done a mod so I can drive around the Nordschleife, so at least I can receive my danger-fix from there.

I just hope so more tracks come out soon, rather than continue to drive around these 'designed by committee-won't somebody please think of the children' circuits.

Got the patch but it only translates a few parts of the menus. Most of the text is still in german, but thankfully babelfish can translate most of it for me

Sadly, I think it's only out in Germany and Scandiavia at the moment. It's not out in the 'proper world' until March 2005

Not sure if I can wait to try this out, although from what I have read (2 patches released already) it might be best to wait for the UK version.

But...........anyone had problems with the German version & UK translation patch?

No problems, no crashes, no framerate issues... nothing (and I haven't even got around to patching it yet)

Oh, scratch that... the 'fan made' tracks have some serious issues with framerate, but they're being optimised as we speak (or I type).

The translation patch is pretty useless, it translates all the obvious text strings in the menus (like Start Race, Practice or Loading). But it misses out on all the useful stuff like the options and car setup screens (this is where I needed the most help). Anyway, I wrote down all the funny german words in the options/setup screen and had babelfish translate them for me. Thankfully, babelfish new the german for 'traction control' so I could turn the damn thing off

One weird thing I've noticed with the game is no matter how hard I brake with ABS switched off, I can't get the car to lock up... maybe that patch will fix it.

Also... to be frank, I've gone back to playing GPL. As much as I've enjoyed GTR, I prefer sliding the car (and I guess you do too with your name ).

Yep

This might help you. I found this translation patch (latest one) it says it does menus & button text. Dated 27th December - www.m4driving.it/download/8123.html

PS Have you got the Nordschliffe working yet? - here - www.onlygtr.b3.nu/ tracks section

Ah, that patch'll help

Yes, got the good old Nordschliffe working on one of the first days I was playing the game. Thankfully the fan-made circuits (although not as pretty to look at) are far more fun to drive around than the standard tracks. However the Nordschliffe obviously is very long and will take many months to perfect... I've spotted plenty of problems with it already
