It's called theft.
People who do it are called thieves.

You've not heard of Steam then?

Just because you download something it doesnt automatically make it illegal...

Well if Dunno meant a legitimate download I apologise. The problem is that 99% of games downloading is P2P and is theft.

Yes I downloaded it overnight and it unlocked this morning

All 100% legal and I assume the game developers get even more money than if I bought a retail box from a UK shop

First impression are that it is AMAZING buy this game now

Well, maybe it's time to review that presumption, eh?

Many people also refer to legitimate downloads when they talk about game demos and freeware mods.

And guess what - I downloaded my copy of Half-Life 2 weeks before it was even released to the public!! Illegal leaked beta release? Nope - totally legitimate preload that I paid for.

Yes, I know. We did the Red Hammer upgrade pack for Operation Flashpoint as a paid for download in 2001. I also know that games such as Severance, Prisoner of War, Perimeter and even Flashpoint are played by many times more people than paid for them.
btw I am in Flashpoint, they photographed me and used my image as one of the characters. It is strange being on millions of PCs all over the world (we sell into over 70 countries).

Re-itterate the comments already made - its excellent and looks fantastic. Not got very far yet, but from what I have seen it has to be one of the most complex games graphically. So far very atmospheric and very good.

Doom3 was more frightening though.

God I love that game! Don't know how many times I've played it through but you can never get sick of hacking someone's arm off and using it to beat the rest of his mates to death

Shame to studio split - I was hoping for a sequel.

I just wanted to post a thread to politely remind people that it was available for download legally through Steam the client software from Valve. You can pay for it with your credit card or get your copy like I did by inputting my Half Life 2 ATI graphics card voucher that came with my graphics card. I've got the full unlocked legal copy yeeeeeehaaaaaaaw, that's my social life out of the window for about 3 weeks

Dude it said it on the packaging on the box that it had the voucher as part of it's contents, not sure if they are doing them now. This was back in February.
