So I bought my PS2 used, and I have just now discovered that the previous user enabled the parental lockout on the DVD player mode. So I can watch Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, but not the Bourne Identity.

Anyone know if there is an override or reset?

From googling, it looks like there is an override code for the parental lockout, but as I'm at work I cant open some of the sites (Games related).

May I suggest having a play with google for a while and seeing what you can dig out?

If that doesnt work, there is updated DvD player software shipped on a CD with the remote control for the PS2 DvD player. As that updates the DvD player software, im guessing it MIGHT reset the parental lock to the default.

Edited to add: Try Googling for : PS2 DvD Parental lock reset

The top result for this search is a PS2 forum entry that looks like it contains the code your after, but cant open it at work...

Dont know if its US specific but:

1. Insert a DVD and start ps2.
2. After the DVD starts playing press SELECT
3. Find CUSTOM and then PARENTAL and press START.
4. Press SELECT and select DELETE PASSWORD.
5. Insert the code 7444 and at the final 4 press SELECT at the same time.

are you sure they didn't leave it on the default?

Have you tried entering 0 1 2 3 4 ?

Mine was bought new, so imagine my surprise whaen it asked for the parental code before it would play a film as harmless as Bridget Jones' Diary or somesuch...

It was around that time I bought a DVD player.
