hmm, first off I dont have an Xbox cause the whole system is crap. Second, half the reason sucks is cause its soo god damn overrated. It may be good, but not as GODLY as people say it is. Thirdly, if only that game actually took some skill, ive played halo a few times and its always been; run across the map for a few minutes, go fight for a little bit and grab flag or die, then if u live, run back for another few minutes. And the overall play takes no skill at all. Look at counterstrike, now there is a good game. It takes soo much skill, and most people cant handle it and they say it sucks, and they go play halo cause they get really good at it since its soo easy and think its the greatest. In halo do you have to control your recoil(what recoil?), spray, play on maps that actually take complex tactics, control the money system to your advantage, listen for the slighest noises to get an advantage over your opponent, need aim soo fast that less than half a second will make the difference of life or death, or any real game wisdom that will help you win........NO.
Its one of the most basic and generic fps games ive ever seen. Just what is soo great about it? The graphics......honestly, graphics, its about gameplay not looking at a pretty screen. And also, any fps played with a bloody controller and analog stick is gonna be crappy since mouse + keyboard > game controller by a hell of a lot.

Gotta say I do agree. . .
I got Halo on the PC as everyone was harping on about how amazing it was. erm . . . .no. WAY to easy and very generic as far as first person shooters go. And I've also played the x-box version and didnt think it was that good looking anyway (far better on the PC at the highest settings). Think Unreal2 is better looking.
But still, I aint gonna buy number 2, so each to their own.
ps. Currently playing Joint ops loads, graphically its not the best, but gameplay wise its superb. Very tactical at all times.
I bought it this morning and have played it for the last 2 hours (have to go out now though :angry
It moves the game on from Halo 1 enormously and I've really been enjoying it.
Yes, CounterStrike is more relaistic, but in Halo you're a cyborg with shields and stuff, FFS. It's not meant to be ultra-realistic, just a lot of fun. Which it is.
I also like the Sci-Fi storyline of both Halo 1 & 2. They could easily have filmed the original and released it as a film with even less effort than it took to translate Tomb Raider to the big screen.
But each to their own, as you say.
Anyway, judging by how popular and long-lived the original Halo was, Halo 2 is going to be HUGE.

Its not just that its not meant to be realistic, but there isnt a whole lot into the game for it to be "The best fps ever". I see Halo as more of a RPG then a FPS game. It has lots of good features for an RPG such as the diverse worlds and themes and story. But what does it have as an FPS? Not very much imho. It just annoys me when people say Halo is the best FPS game ever, when it is a POS as an FPS.

That's fair comment. I'm not going to disagree with you there.

I think it's a bit unfair to call it a POS though. There have been far worse FPS games. You've just allowed yourself to believe the hype and then been disappointed - always a bad move when hype is involved.

Not compared to Quake 3, CS is a bunch of kids hiding behind boxes.
Only the little noobies hide behind boxes. Try playing in cal-m if you want to see what skill is. And I never said Q3 didnt take skill, ive never played it actually.
and Jon, I never believed all the hype. I hated it from the start. The hype made me hate it more.

And so you come on a Halo thread to tell all the Halo fans that YOU hate it?
I might go back in General Gassing & mention that I think driving sucks & cars themselves should all be crushed.
No, im just tellin them that it sucks, and people gotta stop calling it the best game ever, cause its not.
Lets agree to disagree
I've been playing it a fair amount over the past couple of days.
I have to say that the storyline / single player gameplay is a lot more linear than the first Halo and I also find myself repeatedly coming up against waves of bad guys like some old school arcade game.
I don't mean frequent drop-ships of reinforcements, but more like them respawing or coming out the woodwork.
There's also a lot of running down corridors, into a room, doing stuff, running down an identical corridor, into an identical room, doing stuff, running down an identical corridor, into an identical room, etc. Just like 'The Library' or 'Assault on the Control Room' in the first game, but even more.
Ah well. I'm still enjoying it, so I shouldn't complain.
Maybe it's familiarity breeding contempt, as the saying goes, but it is rankling a bit.
