I Wanna buy a PS2 (modded). Maybe even yours
Discussion
Hey all,
On reading that the GTA San Andreas PC release has been pushed back to summer 2005 (maybe a little before) ( - That's the thanks we get for popularising the game?! Moving it onto consoles?) I am considering buying a PS2.
Anyone got one FOR SALE?
I'd like to make backups of any games I buy and play with them, so I think a modded ps2 is the way to go.
Are all mods the same?
Do all copied games work?
Do PS2 games burn to a normal 4.7Gb DVD+R or -R? I have an 8x DVD burner.
how much is a mod?
Can the soon to be released PStwo (mini ps 2, like PSone) be modded? Is it any better?
thanks!

Mr Friendly who can't be bothered logging in and telling you himself but typed it all on MSN said:
hmm, the mini ps2 will most likely not be modded yet, also due to it's size it might prove difficult, afaik all games should work if copied correctly, most should burn to a 4.7gb dvd, some might be dual layer.. but if they're being downloaded then they're likely to have been ripped down to size. mod can be bought as cheap as £10. they're not all the same... some are better for certain things thn others!

The new PStwo will be easy to swap disc on (if you can be bothered with disc swapping).
All you have to do is open up the console and tape down two dip switches and then you'll be able to swap away at your hearts content with no need for chipping. If you need the info I'll dig it out.

The GTA series started life on the original Playstation!
It moved from console to PC, not the other way round.
I'm pretty sure that GTA and GTA2 were out on PC before they made it to Playstation. All changed with GTA3, which came out first on PS2.
You ought to kow that it illegal to chip your PS2 in the UK as there was a court case in the middle of the year to protect Sony's copyright.
However there are still people around who will chip if for you if you know where to look....

Although it is an XBOX site most people who chip will do the PS2 as well
