Guys, does anyone know when the Handheld Playstation Jobby is out anywhere in the world, I believe it is called the PSX. Also, what format are the games going to be on, disc or cartridge?

The games and films will be on a proprietary disc format.

Ah interesting. I am off to New Zealand in a few weeks, via a stopover in Hong Kong, and I was interested to know if I could pick one up over there yet, and if so whether or not the games would work over here as well.

Its not out for a while yet... Japan in time for Crimbo 04 but the rest of us will be waiting till spring or summer 2005. I did read that there are some problems with it that may delay the release further.. bit of a bugger cos my girlfriend pre-ordered one for my birthday recently.. I want it NOW !!

Just to add that the PSX is a PS2 with hard disk and a DVD writer, released in Japan by (i think) Sony electronics.

I thought PSX was the general nomenclature for the first generation Playstation?

Yeah I think it was an internal development name for the original PlayStation also, as now some people insist on refering to PSX and PSX2

It does also beg the question what are they going to call Playstation 10?

PS3 is by all acccounts going to work on a grid based computational model.

So broadband seems like a neccesity.

Not at all, people have confussed the broadband engine in the patents and language interpretations with computing over the internet - it's just a cluster of smaller CPUs instead of one large complex CPU.
