Just paid the $49 dollars (and tax) which came to about £32 Engrish money

Account is now activated so while I wait for HL2 to 'happen' I thought I would try the Counter Strike Source...

WOW ! Check out the graphics details If this is anything like HL2 is going to be, I can't wait.

The game engine is less glitchy than when running DOOM3 on my lil' cube, and at 1024 x 768 it runs smoothly. I have a off ATi Card on my other PC and want to take full advantage of its power for use with the video projector.

I have a question though:

Can I use my Steam account to download another copy to a different PC for LAN use only? Or have they shafted me??

Because at least with a physical disc you could key-gen the 2nd machine and still enjoy the game on your LAN without getting shafted for a second key..

I just gotta know

get a Geforce 6800 gt/ultra or Ati Radeon x800 xt.

but I reckon itll run on less.

It the physics that are amazing...not so much the graphics though they are good.

The way the guns feel in your hands is just great.
(BTW I dont get excited about guns)

Yes, small matter of 300 or so quid.

What will it *run* acceptably on?

If your PC is fast enough, i think it would easily run on a cheaper card, say a 9700 or a fx5900.

Its really the physics that are most impressive.

Hmmm.

Currently have a crappy 5200, so I suspect a 6800 may well be picked up next time I'm in the US.....

CS:S runs fine on a Radeon 9800SE (softmodded to a Pro, for what it's worth - but would still work fine in standard fettle anyway)

CS:S isn't as demanding on graphics as, say, Doom 3...
