As always we have managed significant improvements.
It has charted in the top ten on 2 days sales in the week.
For the first time we released PS2/ Xbox and PC on the same day.
If anyone has any input as to what they would like extra next year let me know and I will pass it on.

You're actually involved with Codemasters?

No doubt some reviews will turn up in due course.

Will the McRae name be big enough for a part 6?

My PS2 copy is in the post.

Ted might have you for advertising

So is it good then? Or should I wait for WRC 4?

Slightly O/T but do you want any input for the next Toca Race Driver game? That game totally kicks butt & would kick butt even more if it had some teeny adjustments made to it.

edited to add: without wanting to blow my own trumpet too much on this forum, I did hit 13th in the world on this game so that should give you an idea of how much I played/play it!

Yep, anything you post here will go straight to the team. As long as it is legal, decent honest etc.. Actually the TOCA team welcome external input, I've sent them stuff in the past and it has always been well received.

Yep, I work at Codies as my day time job. Do a bit of weekend work elsewhere to pay for the toys. Colin's name recognition will continue, he is doing the Race of Champions thing in Dec, then the Paris Dacca and presumably Le Mans again. We have interesting plans for part 6 but that's a year away now. Thanks for buying, I'm sure you will be happy with it. Not really advertising, I thought it was more on topic than usual for me, Computer Games on Pistonheads was spot on. Anyhow I believe that we as a company get on well with Ted.

You're winding me up.
There are a few rally games, whenever they are compared we come above second.

While I enjoy playing the Mcrae games, I think you should take a longer look at the response that the other recent rally games have been getting.
Rallisport Challenge 2 was very well received and had an excellent online mode, coupled to unrealistic but fun rallicross racing.
Richard Burns Rally is taking the simulator market by storm at the moment, particulary on the PC.

I've bought CM05 but I haven't given it a go yet, however reviews have been saying that it is very similar to CM04.

CM2.0 was the best rally game i've played to date, but don't rest on your laurels or delude yourself that you're far above the market anymore, you may be in for a shock.

Personally I liked Grand Prix Simulator 1 & 2 on my Amstrad 464 back in the day ('87/'88ish).

Got to agree with Bruciebabe here. I got my copy on Saturday on an impulse buy as wasn't that impressed with CM04, but wow CM05 just kicks the scensored:t out of CM04. It's just so much more playable. Really really good so far.

Bought it on the way home last night

Had an hour or so's play and was impressed. Graphics are great and really smooth, and I think I'm going to enjoy trying to unlock all the cars and special stages.

Nice one Brucie.

Got the PS2 version from Amazon and played for a couple of hours last night.

The game has moved on again from part 4.

The graphics are improved.
The texture of the tracks have improved - more lumps, bumps, yumps and camber changes.
Improve reaction to scenery is good.
The game is probably set a little more difficult even at he beginning probably due to tweeks/improvements in the car physics - good, I like the required throttle control to keep that little mk1 in line.
The career mode is a good idea. Need to aquire a new memory card first though. 4Mb saved game data pretty big.

4MB!!! How? Why? What?

I've got several hours worth of GranTurismo replays on an 8MB card, with space to spare.

Do they reserve space in advance for any future saved replays?

What about Richard Burns Rally?

My son plays on that and he says its the hardest game he has ever played.

He says CMR is a bit too easy.

CMR3 wasn't very good, however CMR4 was. How have you improved it over CMR4?

As you're involved with Codemasters - any chance of suggesting that they bring out a drag racing game?

I reckon thats something that would fly off the shelf.

I've played CM05 demo and own Richard Burns Rally (both on PC). I have to say I prefer RBR. I think codemasters should spend some time playing it and consider having a more realistic mode in CMR6. For me, Richard Burns rally is a level above anything else I've played in this genre. The sound, the graphics, and above all the handling.

Oh, and if the TOCA guys want feedback - I loved toca 1 and 2 on the PC, and then with the race driver thing the game began to lose its way a little. I still enjoyed the handling in Race driver 2, but I think the sheer number of tracks/cars kind of diluted the game a little bit. I think a return to TOCA 2 with real circuits, and perhaps simulating a few series (1 make tin tops, BTCC, DTM, Australian V8 Supercars), and, again, an ultra realistic mode would be really good.

DOn't get me wrong with these seemingly negative comments - they are meant well and I like and admire codemasters and enjoy their games
