Lately i've been playing with the sim tyres and no driver aids, on free run in Arcade mode with some fun cars (RX7, Vanquish, Ruf RGT, Grifith, etc.) on fun tracks (well generally Seattle and sometimes trail mountain). I had just assumed that once you selected a car from your garage or selected race from the arcade cars you got GT Mode physics.

After having quick go at CHALLENGE 1 from the other thread and realising that a stock Yaris lapped Laguna Seca in nearly 2 mins I thought rather than bother doing up a Yaris I'd just play with a standard XKR with sim tyres to get some practice at LS. I used the 'run and test settings' (or something like that) from the Home in GT Mode. I did about 10 laps and couldn't get one perfect lap. Considering i've been playing on other tracks and other cars with sim tyres in free run I thought it must be the Jag. However I tried a free run witht he same stock XKR (driver aids off, sim tyres) and although not perfect knocked about 8 seconds off my best time with my 1st lap. It seemed much easier to catch a slide in the free run than the run and test settings!

Was it just a fluke on my part or are there major differences between the two modes when running the same car on the same track?

Another thing is there a way to get more tracks available in the run and test settings as there are only 5 to choose

I've completed about 70% of GT Mode and I have a few Gold licenses but no more tracks have become available.

So does anyone know what i'm talking about?

I don't bother with sim tyres as they get on my tits.

Liek driving on sardines. At least you get to drive Complex String in run and test. Wish you could race it
