Well, not long until GT4

After selling the PS2 to buy the xbox its become apparent that I cant go without GT4 so a new one will be purchased in the next few weeks

Anyway, i've had a look round the net and a car list is still not confirmed. I thought the game would be out by now in America/Japan so we would have a good idea? I played the prologue but was not too happy to see loads of Jap cars again, I hope this is not the case in the full game. I also hope that some cars are better portrayed. In the old game the Elise handled terribly and things like the BMW 3-series were outclassed by mundane old Jap-mobiles, not a true reflection I think.

What are the rest of you PH'ers hoping to see in the sequel....?

It's not going to be online, there will be over 650 cars and over 50 tracks, all playable in reverse so making a total of over 100. The tracks will me made up of most of the old ones plus a few new ones.

It would be great to seem some Fezzas in there - there's some debate at this point whether they will be.

Plenty of TVRs in there, can't wait for a go in the t350, and some wedges are rumoured to be in there too (450 SEAC anyone?)

Also there may even be standard Porsche models in there, not just the bonkers RUF ones.

For me the almost entire appeal of the game will be tuning cars to take on the nuburgring - tuned smart city coupe round the Nordschleife should be good for a laugh. Maybe not if it takes 20 minutes though!

Just found a list somewhere and unfortunately the lists for Honda, Toyota etc. are long. There were a number of cars on the list which came under the heading 'Have been photographed by the team but not seen in a screenshot/demo' which included quite few of the cars I'd like to see in there:

340R
Noble M12
Ferrari 360

I'd like to see some of the LM stuff in there like the 550, TVR 440R.

I agree about the Elise in the game - it was awful. The main thing I'd like to see is the racing element improved - I always build a car to the spec of the series and then seem to obliterate everything - some kind of adaptive performance for the competition would be nice to keep you on your toes. Other stuff would be the return of making a car a racer like GT2 and secondhand cars to make getting started easier.

I played prologue and enjoyed it, especially Fuji which is a great racing track. I didn't lie the 10 second penalty for even grazing a wall (bound to happen at New York at some time) and what really got me ws that when you forced a mistake out of a computer car and it hit the wall it didn't get the penalty!

All that said I'll be buying it on release date and I'm looking forward to the 'Ring and a greater variety of cars from the GT3. With online gaming it's only a matter of time before PH leagues spring up.

Have a look here for the car list:

www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=35057

That site is an excellent resource.

I know what you mean about the anticipation. I am pysching myself up to get myself a decent force feedback wheel and pedals which I think will be essential for the game.

The bits I am most looking forward to:

- McLaren F1 GTR around the
Nurburgring

- Caterham Fireblade around Monaco

If it had to be one SEAC, that was probably the one you would choose (no offense to any other SEAC owners, I would love any one!)

I used to like racing the old cars ( classics ) in GT2 just to see how they compared.
What i want in GT4 is realism! worthy of leading the way in todays driving sims. Although i know it is not exactly a simulator i would like to see the cars evenly matched as said before. And although i know it won't have any i would like to damage simulation as well, not just winning races by bashing other cars out the way , which is what i used to do first time around just to get the dosh for that vital upgrade or see what my next car prize would be.

whats this about not being online??

I hope the ariel atom makes an appearance though and apparently caterham are featured too. Id like more realistic handling though i gt3 all the cars handle the same really, the other day i was drifting a Mk1 clio V6 round as if it was a purpose built 200sx drift machine, if the motoring press is anything to go by this simply isnt possible, same deal with the honda s2000

Take any car list with a large pinch of salt. Polyphony have not released any list yet (and wont until game launch).

Might be worth holding back a little. There's a slimline PStwo on it's way, for the same price as a PS2, but with the ethernet adaptor built in (saving you £18). And watch out for the inevitable PStwo+GT4(+steering wheel?) bundles.

Online has been dropped from GT4. www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=56697

As for car lists this one was apparently released with a whole bundle of GT4 info today - http://ps2.ign.com/articles/550/550814p1.html Its not definitive though. I find it very very unlikely that there will be any Ferraris, Porsches or Lamborghinis in the game for licencing reasons.

That's the most annoying things I've heard. I will probabaly get the Online Gran Turismo that is apparently coming out in 2005.

Shame about the online part.

One of the greatest things about PGR2 on the xbox is racing 8 other players on the N'ring. Fantastic stuff

The track is outstanding, and IMO makes a great game (GPL anyone?!).

I would like to see some "real tracks" like the old Midway(?), Grand Valley etc. I dont much care for "street" circuits, or the rallying side for that matter.

How well does PGR cope with the lag between players (or players and server)? Do you ever get the impression you're driving against people with really bad reaction times?

Hardly ever
Every other game has suffered from this, some worse than others. PGR seems to have it sorted though. The only gripe is that sometimes cars leave the line at the start a fraction of a second before you. Its been very well done.

I'm looking forward to thrashing a 205 T16 around some Italian streets!

I'd also like to see Autumn Ring back, that track ROCKED. Esp in 2 player, each with a worked up RS200.

I finally hired out Prologue the other week. Talk about looking good! That McLaren is INSANE!!!
Completely lost it underbraking a few times and found myself looking in the wrong direction.
I found it wasnt the easiest thing to drive, but then I expect it isnt in real life!
top marks for that effort PD!

Also hoping for some closer racing, and some improved AI over the old games.

Still if it aint out by Xmas I might just be asking for my deposit back.
getting sick of all this waiting!

December 17th, December 17th, December 17th, Can't Wait!!!

online thing is a bugger.. although I suspect that the later online version might coincide with the release of the PSP version?!?! some good connectivity possibilities there!!
