I just use a standard wireless mouse and keyboard, but people seem to rate the Logitech G400 (wired) and Logitech MX performance (wireless) mice. No idea on keyboards really.

What type of gaming?

I use a logitech bottom of the range keyboard

I have a Roccat mouse for FPS's (supreme level of accuracy) and a Logitech mx518 for MMO's (more comfortable)

Some of the multi-button mice are supposed to be good for mmo's

I play a lot of FPS games and use a CM Sentinel: http://www.cmstorm.com/micro/sentinel_advance/

I use a different DPI setting for different things and you can setup different profiles on it which you can change between from the two buttons on top of the mouse. So for Photoshop and design work, I use it at 800dpi and then ramp it up to 5600dpi for L4D2.

It's a damn good mouse and reasonably cheap.

Before I sold my Gaming PC I had a nostromo N52 keypad was excellent, it really did improve my Counter strike days!! I also used a Razor copperhead mouse which was also great!! I see that Razor have started doing the nostromo pad themselves

the Nostromo is the same hardware wise but with the Razer badge but now has the Razer software which apparently is a lot better. The RAT7 is a really comfortable mouse and comes with 3 different size covers and 3 different pinky rests. The thumb buttons can also move back and forward and in and out so you should be able to get it comfortable no matter what your hand is like. It even has removable weights and adjustable DIP on the fly.

I'm still crap though... but at least I'm comfortable.
