Was browsing Play.com yesterday and an advert caught my eye so I clicked on it and discovered a great looking gizmo.

MAX Drive is the greatest memory device ever to hit the PS2, but it's no ordinary memory card. In fact, it's a memory management revolution!
MAX Drive is a USB device that fits into your PS2's USB drive. Its massive 16MB capacity can store game saves standard memory cards couldn't hold - just the thing for those memory-hungry sports sim seasons or your Junk TV video clips. In fact, it can hold double the amount of saves possible on a PS2. But that's not all...
Because MAX Drive is a USB device, you can use it to transfer saves from your console to your PC, storing them on your computer's hard drive. You can then email them to your friends using your PC's internet connection. Imagine having all that flexibility at your fingertips! Best of all, you can also download the latest game saves with in-built cheats from Datel's CodeJunkies server, and even update your Action Replay MAX code list via a PC instead of through a PS2 broadband connection!

Datel have a similar device that has been around for ages - connects your PS2 directly to a PC via USB leads, and using the software you can transfer your savegames to/from the PC. Doesn't have any storage limits as its basically a lead, but obviously your PC has to be fairly near the PS2.

I've been using it for a while in conjunction with a GT3 editor program to make hybrid cars (Elise with Honda engine etc) and its really good.

I've got an AR Max and can strongly recomend it, bought the £20 version without the USB device as you can use any USB datastick with it. Have tried both a standard 64meg and 128meg USB2.0 sticks with it and they both work fine.

AR Max is easy to use and has been worth the £20 to unlock about 20 extra cars and 5 tracks on GT4 Prologue.

The tracks include Hong Kong, a semi tarmac version of Grand Canyon and the area used in the coffee break tests (OK so the last ne is not a track, but it is damn good fun).

The number of games it has codes for is huge and new codes are free to get off the web-site.

Well worth a go if you want realy get inside your games.
