So I went out and bought myself a PS3 yesterday, driven really by the desire to play this game (I'm a massive Eve Online fan so really want to see the other side of this technical wonder).

Essentially they're linking an FPS to the world of Eve so that, in live realtime Eve players can bring fire support onto Dust FPS mercs cross-platform. Similarly Dust Mercs will be able to shoot down Eve players in their PC MMO single sharded worlds.

My initial thoughts of the game were very positive - it has a depth to it due tot he learning skills and "loss" of gear that you can choose to invest in. It will be Free to play but you can clearly buy goods to aid your changces of success.

Has anyone else played the Beta yet? Thoughts? I think it's revolutionary in principle but do hope CCP can make it a great game in it's own FPS right as well

Oh, here's a link to the game in case you've not heard of it: http://www.dust514.com/

Played the Beta a bit. Looks nice and all that but not really much to sell it apart from the shooting spaceships out of the sky and being shot at by spaceships.

I expect that interaction will get some interest but unless it can give more to the FPS gamers to keep them hooked long term I am not sure if I will be shooting people from orbit in my Revelation for too long which is sad.

Destined to fail imho, But as a way of getting more cash out of eve players then it will make a nice profit I guess.

CCP have problems internally and the investigation by the FBI/Secret Service certainly havent helped matters.

I am in GoonSwarm and knew Sean and watched him eat himself into a cheap steak and beer induced coma back in February in The Hague where he was stationed at the time.

It is funny that Glenn Beck has ever heard of Something Awful never mind claiming that a bunch of borderline sociopaths are in conspiracy with the CIA.

Now I have no one to tell when I shoot blues frown
