onlive experiences

hey

seen some stuff about onlive so i thought id sign up and it does seem pretty, im tempted to sign up to the monthly playpack which does seem very good value for money but is anyone on here on it or had experience with it?

edit: id probably be playing on a 13" macbook pro so would like the onlive controller too.

They used to do free demos of the service, sign up to a free account and you should be able to get feel for how the streaming games perform.
In my experience with a 40meg connection there is still too much latency to play most games, it's a nice idea in theory but I can't see them overcoming the lag issues any time soon, especially with our infrastructure.

Cheers, I only have a 20mb connection speed and have heard of the lag issues.

I used onlive on a 5-11 mb connection playing on an old netbook , I had lag issues on some games but most stuff was fine.

I remember playing home front and really enjoying that

Such a shame to hear how it basically imploded. I remember hearing about this, briefly, earlier this year in a tech mag. I feel if it had been marketed better, people may have taken it up more?

The US has slower average internet speeds than the UK, which is why it had issues over there, but that wouldn't have been such a factor for putting off the UK users.

Ten years ago I was at E3 through work and they were touting exactly the same system then under a different name.
It makes you wonder if it really is a viable business. Especially now with Sony buying Gaikai, they may just become the next Betamax.

I bought Betamax, oh and Laserdisk, and a Philips DCC (Digital Compact Cassette).. sadly a lot of really technically superior and clever products never make it to market.
