Guys, having just replaced my PC to a new one, I’ve always had an urge to play Microsoft Flight Sim, I’m thinking now’s the time.

Now I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and to most it seems quite boring, but I just like the idea of it. It all sounds extremely ‘as real as it gets’ – Quote MS website, but is it that real.? I’ve seen all these add-ons offering additional aircraft, airports and even local scenery. Is it that good, will I be able to recognise the M25 when I take off from Gatwick, or will it just be a load of jumbled up fields…?

Also would an AMD 3200, 1Gb, 128Mb ATI 9800Pro Video, SATA drive – be able to play this with a decent enough graphic detail.

Any advice…? Is it best to get the 2004 century of Flight, or the 2002 version.

I got introduced to it by a friend who was an air sea rescue helicopter pilot. He said for the money it was very good. He now teaches with the Raf Helicopter simulator, and I had quite an advantage for him to instuct me on the MS flightsim. made it much more enjoyable.

The nice thing, is that if you get hold of some real aviation maps, the software is accurate enough to use them.

I'd give it ago if I were you.

Filght Sims aren't my thing really, but a friend is a total nurd when it comes to sims. He strongly recommends Microsoft Combat Flightsim and he is always playing it.

As for your PC spec, you will have no problems running that with that graphics card.

Combat Flight sim is pretty good.

But it cant hold a candle to IL2 Sturmovik: Forgotton Battles.

Graphically its in a league of its own, playability, yet again. . it cant be touched. As simple of as complex as you like (right down to prop angle adjustment, individual engine control including mixtures etc).

I absolutely love Flight sims and have tried most of them but only have 3 install on my PC. . . .

Enemy Engaged: Comanche Vs Hokum (good arcadey shootem up)
FS9 (very good, especially the helo's)
IL2 (the absolute best out there)

Go for ti with FS9, you wont be disapointed, but also make sure you try 'Sturmovik'. Its fantastic.
