Sometimes the realism in Forza 4 astonishes me.

After watching a documentary on the Cobra and its Daytona derivative, I recalled how the side exhaust pipes would 'spit' flames quite often in the old footage of the car racing. Lo and behold, racing behind one in the game, I notice the virtual version of this car doing exactly the same thing!

Also, a few of the Porsches sound exactly the same as their real counterparts; the change in exhaust note as you climb through the revs really adds to the whole simulation aspect of the game.

If they can improve on this in the next installment I'll be amazed!

I think it would be safe to say that this realism won't be any more apparent in Horizon, but I'd like to think that Forza 5 will add to the hard work they have already done.

For me it is the light reflections both inside and outside of the cockpit, depending on weather conditions that really make the difference. Some of the exhaust notes are absolutely spot on (others however are a bit naff) and the actual simulation physics really add to the experience.

Some of the car sounds in F4 are bloody brilliant.

I may or may not have been know to buy and upgrade an American muscle car just to turn the tv up really loud and listen to it on tick over.... boxedin

I agree with the Porsche sounds. I think they could have done it better with the Ferraris though, they have a more distinct sound change as the valves open. I also think it'd be great if they could implement gear change 'grunt' that can be heard in various cars like Lambos, Astons, and DSG stuff.

I also think it's time they put night time + rain in.

Given the limits of the 360 I think it was either 16 cars on track at once or lighting effects, given they're using the same lighting engine on Forza Horizon that does do night time. 16 cars at once was the right move.

Similarly, I load up the M5 in Autovista with the surround sound on full blast and get it and start the engine. So nice to hear a few revs and then it sitting on idle with no other background noise!

I usually end saying "Wow" at the end of a PH online race !
Wow moments include, watching Echo Cobra, Curry, Idles and the rest of the 'fast' boys just breeze past me, and disappear up the road and round the corner. Another "Wow" is at the end of the one make race, where one of them is 3-4-5 seconds a lap faster than me. How do they do that frown ?
...and sometimes I go "Wow" in a xxPH online race, when I see in my mirrors, Jay heading towards me at 100mph, whilst I am braking for the corner and he just misses me ! wink I say something else (off mic), when he hits me laughwink
