As I'm just getting into GPL, it made me think back to many a wasted day spent playing Indianapolis 500, written in 1989.

No frills or anything, just 3 cars to choose from, one track (no prizes) and 4 different race options. This was the first great race simulator with terrific physics (the real key to the game was getting the setup spot on cos the handling, tyre pressures, temps etc changed as your fuel went down etc).

Had a quick look to see a bit more about it

And who should it be written by but GPL's very own Papyrus incl David Kaemmer...

Pity I spent all those years just turning left and am sh*te at GPL

League calendar details here - www.tartan-rug.co.uk/gpl/

Not sure about Syracuse though, we had a mini rebellion about not doing non-championship races so a confirmation of where we are going to race next week is needed.

PS. Indy 500 - 500k full game download I've got it on CD somewhere, bit of a waste of a CD then I might even try to get ti working.......XP......DOS......hummmmmm

I loved that game! Never bothered racing, just tried qualifying in the best time, think I got down to the low 36's, running out of fuel as I crossed the line. Was best if you played with a mouse rather than a joystick. A friend had it as well so we would compare times.

Sadly GPL and my machine at home never got on...

I've reinstalled Indy 500, it's a bit crap now unfortunately, and actually quite slow graphically.

Can't get the mouse to work to control it though. I used to play it on an Amiga with the mouse.
