Saw the PS2 and Xbox versions running side by side in the studio yesterday and, you won't believe it till you see it, the PS2 version is better. I would not have believed it had I not seen it myself: draw distances to the far hrizon with no pop ups, over 20 cars in view with full physics and AI, gorgeous particle effects and reflection mapping, all at a super smooth 60 frames per second.
The development team have spent the extra 6 months time they had after the Xbox and PC versions to write a new game engine from the ground up. They have set a new benchmark for what a PS2 can do.
Obviously I work here so am a bit biased so just wait till it is reviewed or you see it in store.

Brucie, if you work for Codemasters a quick question.
The Codemasters website has TOCA Racedriver 2 on PS2 set for an October launch. Are you guys not worried that GT4 with a November launch will damage sales?
This strikes me as either very brave or very silly (still can't make up my mind which).
Now I have Race Driver 2 on PC and its a damn good game; but I still favour GT3/GT4 Prologue, let alone GT4 itself.
Personally I will more that likely end up getting both, but not everyone will be in a position to buy both, hence my question.
Or did you just post this as a pre-emptive marketing strike to try and steer us away from GT4 and towards TRD2, LOL.

For a global company the readers of this forum are not exactly a pre-empive strike. GT4 is a completely different game from RD2, it is more like Pokemon with cars and we are closer to a true simulation, so our customer bases differ (obviously with overlap). Game sales are very seasonal so Q4 is vital and if we took notice of every competitor we would never release anything. The big problem for our industry on PS2 this season is not GT4, it is GTA San Andreas.
We are very confident with RD2 on PS2, it really does move the goalposts on what a PS2 can be made to do. Graphically it is identical to the Xbox version, it is impossible to tell the difference. However the physics engine capabilities are developed from the PC version which is more powerful than on the Xbox version because it computes extra parameters.
i think youre right there!
If i had the choice between GT4 and san andreas i would pick GT4, but only because i have been waiting with anticipation for so long.
The whole GTA series is awesome. The freedom of the game is nearly dangerous! I finished the first one and spent many hours hoarding guns and ammo and then nestling in some high rise building and picking off law enforcement and civilians and then the army. I was indistructable! and all viewed through a telescopic lens...... Maybe i shouldn't post that here
