MW3 prestige - unlock weapons/perks?

Noob alert!!! Can someone explain this to me?

I once heard someone on YouTube say that you can unlock weapons or perks when you prestige in MW3.

Does this mean that I could unlock an AK47 to use as soon as I prestige for the first time??

Yup. It will cost you 1 prestige point, but you'll have earned one by prestiging for that first time.
The AK47 you unlock will be "weapon rank 0" again, so you'll not have any abilities, attachments or camo for it. But these things get unlocked as you use the gun as normal.

Basically, you know you have to be rank say 40 or whatever to get the AK47, then it unlocks and you earn stuff for it? Well it's just like that, except the gun is available immediately, not at rank 40.

I think that makes sense?

You get to level 80, then get to the end of level 80 and "prestige" (verb) becomes an option. You click through all that until you're reset to level 0 again. (So you'll have no guns unlocked.) What I did then was to play a couple of games to get to rank 4 or whatever which allows you to create custom classes. Then go into the prestige shop and choose weapon unlock, and pick the AK47. Then go back into the custom class menu and that gun will be available for you to use in custom classes.

Excellent - thanks for that. The AK will make my life easier at lower ranks.

Its the worst gun on the game, would rather unlock the ACR 6.8. Anywho thanks for that, doubt I will prestige but if I do I will be unlocking one of my favourite weapons.

Yeah, I don't actually like the AK47. I did what you also advocate, which is to prestige then unlock the ACR.

Phew, I couldn't believe anyone would unlock the AK, definately the worse gun in the game
