That's a very interesting question. Love Dark Souls.. Got hacked off with Oblivion though.

Skyrim does look top but already have time sinks with BF3 and DS so no free time for another frown

They're both very different.

Dark Souls is a focused, punishing experience that rewards dedication and mastery. It's not one for a casual 15 minute play. It is superb, but think of it as a bit like Ninja Gaiden II with RPG elements bolted on.

Skyrim is massive, and very much free form. You can go where you want, and do as you please. You can dip in and out casually and it is much easier. They are very different games and it's not really fair to compare them directly. Dark Souls is a dungeon crawler with a fairly limited scope for exploration. It delivers action in a focused manner, and it is extremely good.

I'm just getting into Skyrim and it also seems excellent. I'd buy both, because both have struck me as some of the best games I've played all year.

Agree with Baryonyx, much like comparing Need for Speed with Forza, both are quite different and excellent in their own ways.
