Hi all

Am just in the process of trying to get GPL onto my new spangly computer. Anyway after following Fouwheeldrift's comprehensive guide to patching it all I think I am nearly there (Thanks FWD btw!)

I have tried a couple of times to use my keyboard but it is apparant that I need to get a wheel. The question is which one?

I don't fancy paying much more than £50 so what would be best in that proce range? I keep seeing references to a logitech mom wheel but have heard abiout problems with forcefeedback (something I have never used before). Any help would be most appreciated.

As an aside my graphics don't look as good as FWD's on here:www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=108&t=102657

Have I missed a dload somewhere?

Thanks for you patience

Phil (gpl convert)

I use a MOMO Racing wheel,.force feedback is brilliant.

As for the graphics do you mean car or track.

Are you running in Direct 3d or OpenGL mode not software mode?

If so a good site for track updates is this one -
www.f1legends.ch/redirect.php?page=updateredir.php

Cars update here - http://gplea.racesimcentral.com/
They can be installed manually but you might want to get the Car Set Manager which can give you all the options to choose from when installing. From here - http://dixierunners.speedgeezers.com/gpl-w/GPLCSM.zip

If you can wait (for a few months!!!!!), I'd recommend the Grand Turismo 4 Official Wheel. Quite frankly it's the best wheel I've ever had the pleasure to use, however when it eventually comes out, it'll have heafty price tag.

This is the one I've got:

www.videogamereview.com/Controllers/Logitech,Logitech,MOMO,Force,Wheel/PRD_154922_1471crx.aspx

was quite pricy when I brought it, (but is very good quality with real hand stitched leather ) but as it's well over a year old now it might be cheaper now.

Whatever one you go for, I'd make sure it's got decent pedals with stiff springs as otherwise you'll find it difficult to feather the brake.

Given the choice I'd take the MOMO wheel over the GT4, because I preferred the slightly heavier feel of the MOMO wheel. Having said that both are a long way ahead of anything else I've tried. People rave about the Act Labs wheels, but I wasn't impressed.

The MOMO is likely to be cheaper too, although you'll be lucky to find one new for £50. I've got a Formula Force GP at home that I picked up for that sort of money, its pretty average and I never really got on with it in GPL, where I use an old Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick.
