Hi all,

right, looking for a wheel and stand (needs to be collapsible, easy to store) for the XB360

Dont want cheap and nasty (for the wheel - not overly fussed about the stand) but equally as much dont want to get silly about the price

I await your collective wisdom!

He said reasonable price!

Wheelstand Pro - Pick the one to go with the wheel you buy.
Wheel - Can't help you, I use a G25 which isn't suitable for the xbox. I'm sure someone else can help there.

You're reasonable and my reasonable are obviously very different things.

i use a tablemate as the stand.. ok its not great looking(!) but allows me to fold flat and shove in the airing cupboard!.. its adjustable height and angle so always able to sit comfy.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/PORTABLE-ADJUSTABLE-FOLDIN...

Its a nice and tight/solid enough fit with my MS Official (with force feedback) wheel as well.

If i had somewhere to store a decent setup i'd go for that 100%, but with storage space restrictions this cheap n cheerful option certainly does the job.

I had a table mate, it fell apart very rapidly! I'm lucky enough to have games toom, and have a computer desk I can clamp the wheel to, with my TV where the monitor would sit.

I had one of those tablemates, it was rubbish. Very unstable on carpet and could barely support the weight of my fanatec 911 wheel.

I've got a wheelstand pro now - http://www.wheelstandpro.com/

Much more expensive but it does a pretty good job. I had to drill some more holes in the steel plate but now my wheel is screwed directly to the stand and feels extremely solid.

Having looked at this I think I'm going to wait a few weeks, save up and get this combo

I have bad expereinces of buying cheap alternatives only to end up buying the "real deal" at a later date and putting the other on Ebay, so this time I'll avoid the false economy

Have to say I'm utterly crap at driving games (despite having had plenty of practice years ago when testing Grand Prix 3!) but I enjoy them and spend enough time on them to make it worth the spend

Cheers all!

Haven't used one at all, no force feedback though. Hardly seems worth it.

I was reading that there is a new wireless motion wheel, a gimmick and hoping Microsoft will release a proper replacement for the force feedback wheel for less than £100.

Good choice.

Although it is worth noting that Fanatec have a couple of new wheels coming very soon.

The one you'll be interested in is the Fanatec CSR.

Xbox360/PS3/PC
Same price as the GT2
official Forza 4 wheel
Slightly improved electronics

At first I didn't like the look of it at all but it's really grown on me, it'll be released into the Fanatec we shop on either Tuesday or Wednesday.

For those that haven't seen it the CSR mentioned by OP is HERE

I am absolutely loving the look of the CSR Elite, but the likely combined price of wheel/pedals etc looks like around $1200 - that might be pushing it a little bit

Hmm...............

For that, buy a car and go and do some cheap racing at your local circuit.......

Anyone that spends that kind of money has more money than sense wink

How we do it in Yorkshire....all available from DIY shop for about 15 quid: biggrin

.
Wheelstand is a shelf with 4 screw-in legs, which sits across your knees:

.

.
Pedals mounted in double-layer MDF, and hooked under front of sofa or chair ('unhooked' to show engineering detail).hehe
.

.
I can assure you that the both the wheel and pedals are totally stable and do not move around at all, even when performing the most enthusiastic on-track manoeuvres, and I've been using it for about a year now. driving

I have the fanatec gt2 and cs pedals with the rennsport wheelstand. Awesome pieces of kit. The stand is very very sturdy and worth the money tbh
