XBox360 - Sticky Stick - Can it be fixed?

The left control stick on my 360 wireless controller seems to get stuck to the right sometimes - does anyone know if you do a DIY fix on this and if so how/what to do?

Didn't really fancy taking the controller apart if its unlikely to be fixable

Try pulling the stick up and then giving it a good wiggle, there might be some gunk trapped in there.
