I recently dug out my PS2 collection; I have some cracking games that I really want to play. (PSX games too!) I'm afraid that I am now far too spoilt by the graphics and length / features etc of modern versions of these games, that playing the old ones will not be the same, and may even spoil my memories

I think it's worse. To use your analogy I'd say it's like having a massive stamp collection, except with all the stamps stuck face down.

It does happen, I went back to GTA San Andreas to complete it (never quite finished it, and was about 2 hrs from the end), it looked absolutely terrible after GTAIV. It doesn't help moving from CRT to an LCD/ plasma as they really show up the poor detail.

I did finish it though!

It depends really. Some games are bad. But with some games, The gameplay is that good you forgive the graphics.

I don't know why they say no one in the world would have bothered keeping Moto GP in museum condition, I had it and found it a great game! Granted it was on the early purple-backed discs, which I have been informed are super easy to scratch, it was probably my favourite at the time of PS2 release.
