I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction, I'm trying to find a new game to buy for Mr chim_girl. To give you and idea what he likes, he's recently finished Far Cry, has enjoyed all the variations of Battlefield, Ghost Recon, IGI, Max Payne and Half-Life.

I thought Half-Life2 was going to solve my problem but it it is not out until August. :stampsfeet:

Should also say that driving games are a no-no, his steering wheel and pedals don't work with whatever version of windows he's running now, or something.

Suggestions......anyone.....please.....

Unreal 2 and Unreal Tornament are amusing but I don't know what else as he has already played my choices.

I have UT on my LAN and we all can't stop playing it, although if his idea of a good game invlolves something other than a fragathon, then he will get bored quite quickly. Its still bloody addicitve even using the bots though. Unreal 2, like one, has beautiful vistas and the graphics are good. However in comparison FarCry is better on the eye.

Also if he likes FPS and war type games how about Return to Castle Wolfenstein? A very good and enjoyable game, especially on line (broadband?) and one we still go back to (Tram, favourite level- 'We need an engineer' and 'Diss-arm the dynamite' for those that have played it ) Cheap now as it is last years game.

No-one lives forever 2 on sale in PC world £6.99

Painkiller - very dark, quite easy to play, very difficult to find all the secrets.

Has Mr Chim Girl tried Call of Duty? Other than that, new good games seem to be very thin on the ground at the mo!

If he has half-life already tell him to get counterstrike for it. Best game ever.

Simon, you play much? It would be cool to get a PH clan together and get in cal-o.

Thanks so much for the suggestions so far. I'm glad I'm not the only one finding new games a little thin on the ground.

He has had Call of Duty, Counterstrike and Wolfenstein and all the James Bond games. He downloaded a demo of Painkiller earlier, not sure how he got on with it.

Unreal seems to be the only one he hasn't played already.

We have broadband so online gaming is a possibility, to be honest I'm not sure why he hasn't done this already, must ask him later. I'm sure he'd be interested in joining in a PH online game if you decide to set one up.

Jo I can't remember whether I asked Adam about Splinter Cell. It is not a FPS, more of a stealth game but is still very good.

Yes please. We've already got one of those force feedback steering wheels with proper pedals. It used to be great fun until he upgraded something on his machine. Bah, it's going to have to go on eBay now.

Will ask about Splinter Cell, I'm not going to hold my breath, unless it includes loads of shooting he tends not to be interested.

Some of the team games in Unreal Tournament 2004 are pretty damn good (plus lots of shooting)

I would ask him.

Games are difficult to buy for other people, some you like some you dont. I would sooner mrs Superlightr asked me and then went out and got it as a present rather then get a game which I wont play with.

Failing that there is Operation Flashpoint 2 out in a few months and Rome Total war later this year and Half life 2 in a few months. They are really the ones to wait and go for.
