Can someone explain to me why this game is "the greatest game ever". I find this game pretty crap and really over rated. How is the game even remotely good, someone please explain.

Innocent until proven guilty. I think YOU should start off by telling us why it's crap, then I'll put you straight!

A lot of people say halo is the best game ever, it may be true but it depends on what type of gamer its aimed at. Im a real hardcore fps gamer, so I tend to look at games a lot differently than most people. One of the things I hear most about Halo is that its graphics are soo awesome. Yes, ill give it credit for that but I myself could care less about graphics as long as they are not totally crap. I havent played halo to a great extent, but what I noticed is that the game nearly takes no skill at all to play. You can basically just aim and hold and easily kill everything in the game. Lets look at the multi player aspects now, since thats all that matters cause single players suck. I was talking to a friend who claims halo is the greatest game ever, and he was telling me how he was pplaying this awesome 8 v 8 match against his friends. I play counterstrike every day, and most matches are 20ish players on maps nearly 1/4 the size. The few times ive played halo mutliplayer myself, it was really boring. All I seemed to do was get the rocket launcher, and try to go shoot someone point blank with it, or just camp hidden around the way too big map and just kill people like a pussy. All in all, the game lacks true hardcore fps excitement/skill/strategy/gameplay.

Your turn.

Halo single player - good, maybe even great...

Halo & XBConnect internet games - great, even heroic...

Only thing that meets it right now is R63 for me - should be renamed divorce-maker...

Roll on Nov 9th - only question is whether to book a day or week off work

Agreed. You have to be pretty accurate with head shots to progress in Legendary difficulty.

The thing I liked about the single player mode was the real sense of a story unfolding. Ok, usual Sci-Fi fodder, but a 'cut above' for the average computer game.

Depends what floats your boat really, but I rank Halo right up there with seminal games that I have REALLY enjoyed.

So it seems its come down to a kind of match between the (type 1)people who play for the story/graphics/cinematics and the (type 2)hardcore gamers who play more competetively to be the best. anf it seems that if your a type 1 person Halo may just be the best gamer ever, but if your a type 2 gamer, it just comes nowehre near as close.
