Not worthy of its own thread, so I thoight I'd stick it here.

The motherboard from the first PC I built on lockdown went pop last year. To celebrate the fun times I'd had building the computer, I decided to have the board framed as a reminder of the skill I had learned during lockdown.

Something fun and different to the usual stuff on the wall.

Mmmmm there is a burny smell... can't pin it down but the fan in the PSU isn't spinning when I am gaming.

Corsair RM750... 11 years and two weeks old!

Not sure this is the right place but here's my new rig.

Its replacing a 9 year old i7 5930K / RTX 2080 Super based system that was struggling with a recent gift of a 4K monitor.

Using this for Work, Gaming, Lightroom and Adobe Premiere workflows.

Spec list

  • CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 9950X
  • MB - Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite
  • Cooler - Corsair H150i
  • Memory - Corsair Vengeance 64Gb (2 x 32)
  • NVMe - Samsung 990 EVO plus 4Tb
  • GPU - Asus TUF Gaming RTX 5090
  • Case - Fractal Design North XL
  • PSU - Corsair RM1000x
Play Dawn of War III 4k Ultra settings and seeing > 100 FPS was an eye opener. I can play it, without it crashing? Sweet! Also Where previously I'd load up a project in Premiere and just see the buffering every few seconds this has been faultless.

Its also whisper quiet. My old rig was intrusive but because you're used to it you don't notice.

Only thing left is add another NVMe, another 64Gb and probably replace the fans that came with the case.

I'm excited to stop having to retro game.

Cheers,

T1b
