any recommendations for a controller for this?
Saitek X52/X52 Pro (or the X55 which is coming soon I think) are generally considered the best, but they're pretty pricey.I've got a Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS which is cheaper and does the job perfectly well for me, have managed to assign most functions to the joystick.
Nope, this seems to be the current trend. Paying for alpha/beta/early access to help with the testing and get a headstart.
It's a bit weird, not sure why I would want to pay for an unfinished version bugs and all when there are so many other games out there. Plus if I've played a 'bad' version for 6 months, I'd be over it or p'd off with it by the time it was actually a full release.
In any game with a competitive/persistent element unless they re-set everything on day1 of release the new players will be destroyed by the long term players with their better gear.

Am I missing something here ? It seems to be at least £50 for something that is not finished.
The point is that they were looking for funding to get the game made. The early access was a reward for backers who paid a lot. Dropping the price now would be a slap in the face for them.Basic pre order is £35

This plus Oculus Rift = head explosion.
Just hook me up to an IV drip and leave me to fester in my room
I have a Oculus Rift Dev Kit 2 ordered, upgraded my PC to power it and my X52 at the ready. Once it arrives I may never leave home. Just hook me up to an IV drip and leave me to fester in my room
Another update dropped in today just had a quick go
new station is impressively big.

I really hope they do decide to bring back the Elite 2 Classical music score - loving a bit of Blue Danube in that clip. Brings back all kinds of memories.new station is impressively big.

Borrowed my office's DK1 combined with my new X52 = mind blown. Much easier dogfighting when you can visually track enemies in turns, although you can't read anything on the cockpit on that head set and the low FPS and tracking drift was a little bothersome though.
Waiting for a DK2 compat version to come out.
