It’s expensive for DLC mind £35!
£25'ish from many places for the steam key - https://www.allkeyshop.com/blog/en-gb/buy-elden-ri...

I always use CDKeys £26.19 - https://www.cdkeys.com/elden-ring-shadow-of-the-er...

But I won't buy before it's released so I get the key immediately.

@calza….how are you getting on now, still enjoying it?
Very much so, although it's a bit love hate at times. Probably had about a month off due to personal bits but am currently level 155 and 58 hours in.

I've not long cleared the fire giant (what a horrible fight) so have a bit to go on the main quest. Have had quite a few cracks at Malenia too, but not quite there yet. I do still keep getting distracted though and before you know it your 4 hours deep into a quest for an item.

For the most part I've been using Rotten Breath and melting every boss - I spent so long ignoring the dungeons (or skipping through quickly) to get the best incantations and equipment etc that when I got back to a lot of it, it was laughable.

I really fancy NG+ with a huge weapon though, totally different playstyle and the look fun.

Yep, I’ve gone back in to get ready for Shadow and, like FourWheelDrift, am now waiting at the access point in Mohg’s Palace, having beaten Mohg again (easily, I think I’m around lvl 380 which is nuts but I farmed runes like a demon with an insane Faith build). I’m on NG +3 I think, but am actually struggling to remember all the minutiae of the game as haven’t played in earnest for well over a year (or was it 2….). Had totally forgotten about Incants and couldn’t figure out how to use them, till I remembered the Seals,

One problem is that going back to my bleed build to get ready for the DLC, after not using it for a year, I found dual wielding katanas caused not only huge damage to bosses but giving me huge blood loss to myself (and not using Seppuko) - maybe because of the Marika’s Soreseal I had equipped that increased stats but caused me damage. Not sure, but it’s a real problem with my build and I don’t remember that happening before. I’ll switch talismans to see if that helps.

Looking online, looks like the Reduvia daggers are back in fashion and RoB are out, due to all the patches. The scaling, buffs, stacking, AoW, weapon arts etc - all makes the head spin!

What an incredible game though. Oh and that Fire Giant - utterly hateful. I very nearly gave up the game as just couldn’t beat him for the longest time. Mimic Tear was my friend though!

Shadow of the Erdtree is big and hugely praised by early reviewers.

Yeah - it's getting astoundingly good reviews. Seems to be on a par with Witcher 3's DLC in terms of size and scope.

Just noticed that there was a 6GB patch to the base game on Steam today. Must be getting ready for the DLC. I really should get around to playing it ...

Malenia fell for the first time today. My. God.

Had to completely change my playstyle for it and I don't know how many goes it took - 75?

Time to finish of the crumbling place and try a big weapons melee play through!

I played an hour last night/early this morning and I am pleased to say it is very very good.

Haven't faced any bosses yet and I'm have been exploring but there will be a lot to do and find over the coming weeks.

Just a hint If your on PS5 and use rest mode rather than turning off, if you don't get the option to go into the DLC at Moghwyn's Palace, you just need to restart your PS5. Closing the game and opening again doesn't work, system needs the restart.

Ok, so I got utterly mashed by the blackgaol knight in the western mausoleum and lost 1m runes.

Ouch.

Absolutely trounced me too. Best I did was get him down to about 40% health... will come back later.

How did you find the fight? I heard some people really struggled with it but I beat him 1st attempt with a level 150 character (and I an an average player) and only used 1 flask.

I found some of the enemies leading up to it much harder.

I'm level 156, did it in 3 though as I made the same stupid mistake twice. But I do tend to do better with bosses that move around more.

Took me 3 tries to beat the dancing lion too - with lots of flasks! Even then I relied on my summonsed partner plus my mimic tear. I’m a pretty rubbish player, but it’s fun.

I think there might be patches incoming, I've had a few moments where the fps has dropped to 1fps before recovering and I'm not exactly low on the power front (5800X3D and 4090) I see anything from 70-95 elsewhere with the fps unlocker.

Anyone else notice any?

Runs really well on PS5. No frame rate drops or glitches so far.

Only problem I had (PS5) was accessing it the first time. The cocoon arm wouldn’t trigger, but a re-download fixed it.

Currently getting totally schooled by a death knight in a dungeon. Had to walk away and return to real life, was getting too intense in there!
