Have you tried Mount & Blade, Warband…it’s not hardware intensive. It’s a really great game.

Once large mod community as well.
One I'd heard of but assumed was a first/ third person hacker, but looks to have a lot more to it than that. What's mount and blade 2 like? Reviews reckon it was clunky as hell when released but did it improve?
It’s really not a hacker, if your doing your own fighting your doing it wrong. I currently have 200+ guys with the capacity for 400 to do the fighting for me.

I have literally 100s of hours into this over the years, it’s a game I keep coming back to. I haven’t tried M&B2, but I still haven’t exhausted the free mobs for war and yet, I’m currently trying to take overWesteros in a Game of Thrones conversion.

You'd probably like Factorio if you like strategy/builders.
Just tried the demo of this and lost 90 minutes. Died on the 3rd section as didn't managed to get away from the animal things. Not sure I'd go with it, but it was a free way back to games.

Ok that escalated quickly! Probably 10+ on Factorio now. Enjoying it whilst trying to find the best way to work. On the last level of the demo I was getting annoyed as I had done the trains etc, turns out I'd done no research, so had an other 4 hours of gameplay...

Will buy it crack on!

Wanting to get back into games, I primed myself on Steam, added a few to my wish list and promptly forgot about them. But this morning I've had an email from Steam about their winter sale.

I'm undecided about what to get, loved TTDX and Civ, logical kind of games. So I thought 'Cities:skyline' and Civ VI to be getting on with. £5.74 and £7.49 respectively.

Anything else like this worth grabbing in the sale?
On Civ 6 it's worth considering the Gathering Storm expansion too whilst it's on sale - the base game was great but Gathering Storm added a bunch of improvements ( e.g. the UN, extended tech trees, natural disasters etc..) and is well worth it at £8.74
Was just looking at getting this too. Civ VI is £7.49, Gathering Storm is £8.74.

But the platinum bundle is £12.57 which includes everything:

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI
Civilization VI – Vikings Scenario Pack
Civilization VI – Poland Civilization & Scenario Pack
Civilization VI – Australia Civilization & Scenario Pack
Civilization VI – Persia and Macedon Civilization & Scenario Pack
Civilization VI – Nubia Civilization & Scenario Pack
Civilization VI – Khmer and Indonesia Civilization & Scenario Pack
Civilization VI: Rise and Fall expansion
Civilization VI: Gathering Storm expansion

There's a reason it's known as Cracktorio biggrin
Trains get a lot easier once you realise chain signal before junction and rail signal after.

I'm enjoying Rimworld but clearly the odd 10 minutes here and there isn't enough to really get in to and I need to have a proper session on it.

This thread made me play From the Depths a bit over Christmas. I felt a bit rusty, its a fantasic game but you have to put in the time to get good at it.

Astroneer is a charming little sandbox game. Reassembly is a super chill old school top down shooter, neither are big games but great for a little session.

The Long Dark is a very stylish survival game where you have to survive Canadian winter.

Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider games all available on the Epic Store today until the 6th. Unsurprisingly the store has fallen over.

We have remarkably similar taste in games.

Have you tried a new career in Kerbal Space Program with Real Solar System, RP-1 (Realistic Progression One) career mode, and Kerbalism? If not, I would very highly recommend it.

As others have said, all the XCOM games are great.

Worth revisiting X4. It's come on hugely. To the point dlc has been released. No other game can you stand on the deck of a station (that you built) in first person, and watch your own freighters (with your branding and name on them) approach, land - with deck crew waving them in, then be stored below decks. All running on trading routes you've carefully organised for them.

Meanwhile you can stand on the deck of one of you carriers watching your 60+ fighter squadron auto launching from the inside to defend / attack whilst watching your turrets tracking enemy fighter attacks, with planets swooping about as your carrier takes evasive measures. It's all very very unique.

I too found X4 to prickly to start (played X3 thoroughly) but persevere. It's worth it, with some humongous missions.

I keep thinking I should have a go with the full Realism overhaul, but there's still so much to do in my current kOS game. So far I've automated everything I do in Kerbin/Mun/Minmus space and deployed kommsats in Duna orbit, but not automated Duna landings yet. The trouble is I'm reaching the limit of my programming skills biggrin
Spent a while paying with proprotors too but need to brush up on my control theory to do more than simple altitude/bearing hold.

Loads that have been mentioned so far are currently in the Steam sale if anyone else has similar tastes, including

Avorion
Oxygen Not Included
Subnautica Below Zero
Satisfactory
Civ IV
XCOM enemy Unknown
Mount and Blade: Warband
From the Depths

Plus some of my existing favourites
Kenshi
This War Of Mine
Kerbal Space Program

I've just bought M&B Warband, From the Depths and Avorion for £25

Need to spend some time getting to grips with Rimworld before I give them a try though.

If you would like to try the mods without losing access to your current save, this is possible but only by creating a second install.

When you get round to From The Depths you can add me on Steam if you want and I can give you some help. I am Derek Withers as well and my image is a pop art "Boom". I suggest you use their building method which is a lot faster and more flexible than the alternative minecraft style building.

Horizon Zero Dawn is a stone cold bargain for a tenner on Epic store.
