Get yourself a VR headset to go with it. Stuff like Superhot VR and Beat Sabre are great fun. I just bought Starwars: Squadrons and HOLY st THE GRAPHICS ARE PHENOMINAL even on my GTX 1080 and original Rift

Given I now have a pretty nice GTX3090 build PC... what should I be downloading from Steam that will make good use of it?

Right now I've got FS, GTAV, Dreadnoughts and WOWS installed. (plus some much older games)

This thread seems like a good place to ask smile
Control will give it a good run for it's money with ray tracing on.

FTFY wink

Great game but thoroughly unoptimised and largely unplayable without DLSS.

The standard answer for "wow" visuals in my book remains CP2077. Disappointing gameplay but oh so pretty with all the options turned up to max.

Not a recommendation as I haven't played it yet but worth mentioning that Paradox have made another attempt at getting the Victorian era right and Victoria 3 is out soon

The Victoria franchise is their most ambitious grand strategy game as it moves beyond the warfare and diplomacy focus of the Europa Universalis games to bring in modelling of society and the economy. I hope they can get it right this time because if they can it should be a very interesting game.
Interesting, not played any of these so far but could be one on my "maybe" list for the future.

I’ve just fully completed Kingdom Come - Deliverance and absolutely loved it. Combat is a bit tricky when you start but east when you get the hang of it, story and voice acting got to be some of the best I’ve seen.

Hear me out on this one, it was free on Epic games store, Supraland.
Just over 24 hours for full completion, 19 hours for main game, the puzzles are so hard and then so easy, but it makes you think outside the box, then just inside the box, whilst you're thinking outside the box, bloody great game.

Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts, mentioned a few times on here, seems to be in the Steam sale this week.

Great game, plus it supports Ukrainian developers who are in kyiv.
They've been working on the game throughout the invasion, and even apologised for an update being slightly late.

If you’re into fps/looter shooters a new wipe/season is going to start on Thursday and that’s the ideal time to start.

Phenomenal game despite having some flaws and a Russian developer.

A few recent suggestions :

1) Terraria - my son hassled me to play this with him. Strangely hypnotic mining / discovery game - I've got kind of hooked and it's a nice way to spend time with junior.

2) Jagged Alliance 3 - was a fan of JA 1 and JA 2 in the 90s and this is a great successor to those. Enjoyable team based tactics, great (politically incorrect characters) and a decent challenge.

3) Baldur's Gate 3 - haven't tried a "true" RPG since the days of Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate 2, Ultima really. This is truly fantastic (4 hours in) it's obvious that so much polish and love has been poured into this and it's a joy to play.

Absolutely this. I've been looking for a decent game to get immersed in for ages. I didn't think I'd get on with the fantasy setting, but it's absolutely brilliant.

Rimworld.

Thank me later!
A few years on and I just dropped back to say thanks for this recommendation, it's become one of my standard time sinks alongside KSP and Factorio. I started a new game the other day with Royalty and Biotech and currently suffering from the problem of excess wealth leading to lack of storage and too many raids biggrin First playthrough with a Sanguophage and he's really useful as a battlefield medic. Not bought the other two DLCs yet.

I also tried several other recommendations and got quite in to Avorion for a while. Didn't really manage to get in to Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts though, I should probably give it another try.
Going Medieval has had some big updates since I last played to need to give that another go too, decent game when I played it, and I love the 3D nature of being able to build cellars and have archers on top of the walls, but it was a bit lacking on long term goals before.
