What the best insurer for mustang drivers and what cars (basic models of course) are the cheapest to ensure?

You'll find a lot of insurers are clamping down on young, first time American car owners. Adrian Flux may help, but you're best shopping around.

What model year is the Mustang, as this will make a difference? Late models (the 2005 onward S197) are being hit hard on the insurance and many newcomers are finding it VERY difficult to get insured.

There's often little difference between 6 and 8 cylinder cars though, which seems odd.

Ideally, to get the best quote, you need the car to be a non-daily driver, with limited miles (say 3-5000 a year), garaged and have a year's LHD experience under your belt.

Classics from the 60s and 70s will be cheaper to insure.

Membership of the Mustang Owners Club GB can often get you a discount on insurance too. Pop over to the forum www.mocgb.net/forums and say hello. You'll be made very welcome and you'll get loads of good advice.

Good luck
