Recomend me a dealer
Discussion
First things first, I've wanted a mustang forever. (Man, that feels good)
So I've hired a V6 convertible for my honeymoon in Cali in July and am hoping the future Mrs therealpigdog will be bowled over with it and delighted for me to get a nice V8 over here. Prices seem fine and depending on a couple of things (redundancy consultations/wedding costs and the like ) I could be ready to buy this summer.
So can anybody recomend a dealer in or around Yorkshire, or are the classifieds my best bet?
Anything I need to look out for or any particular spec I insist on?
Cheers
Phil

What sort of budget do you have? Used V8s are going up in value as the pound slides against the dollar, so what was £13k at Christmas is more like £15-16k now. New 2010 Mustangs will be £30k+, so used values aren't going to slide anytime soon.
2 of the most respected dealers are Atlantic Sportscars (Luton) and Bill Shepherd (Surrey).

Private ads are cheapest. The conversion to UK lighting regs is problematic as the Mustang has a very sophisticated electrical system which cannot be wired like the old stuff and, incorrectly wired, can fry the smart junction box (SJB)so who did the SVA is critical. That said, the older 2005 cars should all have had this sort of stuff ironed out and rectified by now.
Atlantic and Bill Shepherd are the main dealers as TT has said. There are others who advertise extensively and misleadingly who know nothing and are only interested in a quick buck.
As usual, the guide to all things about the 2005-on Mustang is at www.s197.co.uk. The other thing is to try and budget for a car AND likely modifications as it's generally impossible to resist modifying them and they do need modifying in certain respects.

Cheers - very useful. Prefer recomended dealers to private ads (I know they're more expensive but don't mind paying for peace of mind on the basis that others have been happy with them).
Budget is sub-£20k (got a wedding to pay for so will find out just how "sub" it is very soon) and thought a stang is more fun than a golf gti. Whilst the pound/dollar situation hasn't helped am sure things will sort themselves out. You win some and you lose some. Serves me right for buying her the engagement ring before I got the new car!
