Chaps - a few questions from a 'Stang virgin if I may?!
Always loved these since the newer shape arrived (2004 i think) but never got one cos of the LHD thing. However, I'm off to Abu Dhabi soon and it seems an ideal car for a place where they drive on the right and where petrol is 20p a litre!! They seem to be a tad expensive to actually buy in the UAE so I was thinking about buying one here and having it shipped. Anyway, what I was going to ask is, what should I look for in terms of spec? What things should I definitely not do without and what things are nice-to-haves? Anything I should avoid? I'm avoiding V6 engined ones naturally!
For example, internet car show room has this one for sale: -
http://www.theinternetcarshowroom.com/detail.asp?I...
It says it's zero mileage but that it was registered in 2006. Any idea why that would be?? Is it to do with the importing/exporting law of the states?
All help much appreciated.
Cheers,
J.

First off, do a search for the Internet Car Showroom on the Mustang Owners Club site www.mocgb.net/forums/

Personally I'd go to someone like http://www.atlanticsportscars.com or http://www.surreymustang.com
Regards spec, there's not that many models. Most V8's (GT) come with the interior upgrade package which was leather seats and door cards, and a silver dash. If you buy a stock GT you'll probably want to upgrade the suspension will something like the Roush kit which will cost you about £1K. This can be bought and fitted in the UK, although many second hand cars have upgraded suspension anyway. Depending on budget you may want to look at a supercharged car, of which there are also plenty about second hand.

Guys - many thanks for the advice. Interesting reading on the Internet Car Showroom place...still i guess at least they acknowledge the faults etc. I'm not too worried about the sales staff not knowing every detail about a car (within reason)...after all, I've bought from BMW and Porsche salesmen that had far less knowledge than me about their products!! But I need to develop my knowledge so I know what to look for. PH is the place to start, as always
Cheers again,

The main rule here is to make sure the vendor has the car he or she is selling and isn't lying.
The V6 has 210hp but is basically a descendant of the Ford Europe Cologne V6. the V6 is nothing more and not intended to be anything more than a base form of transport - it has no rear sway bar for example. The V^ "Pony PacK" has the V8 suspension but the V8 suspension isn't much to write home about and replacement is the best thing you can do (which is easy).
The V8 starts with the Deluxe which is the basic spec and easily recognisable by the swathes of cheap plastic inside and the cheap plastic steering wheel. What you need to get is a Premium which has inserts in the doors to break up the plastic expanse and touches like leather wheel. The interior upgrade comes with the alloy dash and carpets and the sports upgrade comes with red carpets and inserts.
However, the ONLY thing you need to know when looking for a new shape Mustang is who did the SVA conversion. The electrics on these cars is all very high tech so your average bodger can cause the main junction box to fry - maybe even 3 years down the line and that costs about £1000 to remedy and can leave your electrics malfunctioning.
