Quick query, but the engine bay of my 2000 GT is now pretty dirty after 9 yrs of solid driving. Does anyone have a recommended cleaning product/valet company who they could recommend as I would like a professional job done and not a simple pressure wash which could loosen vital components. I am based in Surrey/SW London.

Thanks in advance.

Baz,

As far as products go, P21S is a great degreaser for engines along with a couple of soft brushes.

If you want to order your own stuff and give it ago, I would recommend speaking to Tim at cleanyourcar dot co dot uk. He has always done me well.

If you want someone else to do it and dont mind shelling out a bit of money, jump onto detailingworld dot com and put up a post in your area then stand back and wait for all the replies for people to do it (professional and amateur alike)

I just used the old favourite: Gunk to degrease the parts that needed degreasing, wiping each part carefully with a soft cloth (pretty easy on the 4.6 with so much plastic around...) then used Armorall to protect and clean the shiny bits and wiring looms, inner body panels...

Took me about 2 hours and the engine bay had never been cleaned by the owner in 3 years of ownership...

The only bit which still looks grim on mine is the valve covers which are a very dull grey semi-pitted yuk shade of dull metal...

Probably the easiest engine bay I have ever cleaned!
