Why I love my Mustang...
Discussion
After hearing all this blah, blah, blah, about the credit crunch on the radio yesterday afternoon about people walking to work instead of driving etc, I thought "nice evening, let's go to Asda and take the Mustang for a change.
Despite negotiating through East London roadworks and the general hassle of driving over roads that seem to have been resurfaced by a demolition expert the journey was made interesting by the ridiculous attention that the car received.
When I was at the traffic lights I heard people say "Mustang", funny how they recognise it...
Got a few looks in Asda's car park and it was a good laugh loading up the trunk with shopping (perfect shopping car in fact...)
One highlight was when I was in Leyton waiting at a pelican crossing for the lights to change: a bunch of people outside a club were all obviously looking at my car even though they were at least 100 feet away. Well what could I do with them all looking in my direction but give it some "Nascar soundtrack" away from the lights (didn't wheelspin though as I didn't want to act like a boy racer!) They all loved it.
I can't believe the number oif people who say "nice car" and kids even shout and cheer when they see it!
I never had anything like this amount of attention with Corvettes.
All I can think, as James May said when he was reviewing the fabulour 70's Aston Martin V8, that somehow a Mustang is "of the people"!!!!

Great post
I too receive similar attention in the Camaro, possible due to the LoudMouth exhaust though...
But I wuold think to a lesser degree, as the Camaro is a slightly more sleek apearance and mine with its understated dark met blue paintwork.
The biggest compliment I think is "The Mustant is an event in itself!" I even drove in the wrong direction to other day just to follow one for a bit.

Dunno what it is about driving US cars, they do seem to attract loads of positive attention, could never go anyway in my humble 3rd gen without some kind of comment, even from owners of much better cars would want to have a nosey.
I have to agree, I get nothing from positive from driving my '69 mustang, the polar opposite of when I drove my 996, which seemed to really p*ss people off!!malc350 said:
It's just a great alternative to all that characterless pap on the road. Amazingly the Mustang has such character that I haven't had one person comment on its' environmental unfriendliness.
Probably because secretly all those Pr*us drivers would much rather be in a Mustang!
It's childish, I know, but I always make a point of dropping to 3rd alongside Prii and opening her up - it somehow completely negates all their savings .Probably because secretly all those Pr*us drivers would much rather be in a Mustang!
