I have wanted a Mustang since I was a kid.....and now I've finally got one! Yesterday was the first time in years I smiled all the way while driving home.

Just bought a 2005 GT Premium, black with black interior, dark grey stripes, manual,Bullit wheels. I plan to mod it (Shelby Razor wheels and lower it) but for a while I just want to enjoy it as it is.

Totally stock with the exception of a Borla exhaust. The guy who sold it to me provided a dyno sheet showing it made 332.8 BHP at the flywheel so I'd say it's a healthy one.

Probably won't be able to post pics until the weekend as I arrived home late last night after driving for hours in the rain and the car looks like it's been off-roading!

Love it: I'm going down to my garage just to look at it later!

Hi Nige, well it nearly was a vette again (see why not here: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0... ) but I have wanted a mustang since I was a kid and the latest sums up all I like about a Mustang (retro looks, practicality, great fun...) and, after 3 C4s, I could do with a change anyway.

No doubt I'll still pop down to a few vette meetings plus you've GOT to hear this Ford, sounds like NASCAR even at 20mph!!!

I think you sold the car to its previous owner and maybe even new as well? (Car was virtually one owner when I bought it, first owner 3 or 4 months who wanted a convertible [so do I now the sun's out!], then the previous owner to me [Simon Mills] who used it as his daily driver.

I'm looking forward to the BBQ, see you there!!!

Nice car.

If it's any consolation, I sold my C5 Z06 and bought the Mustang mainly because I have two kids and the 2 seater is no good. The irony of this is that in the past 3 years, I have used the Mustang as my toy and neither kid has ever been in it! For that reason, I do sometimes lament the passing of the Z06...but not it's gearbox.

Having lowered, Roushified and blown the Mustang, it's now on a par with the Z06 except maybe the brakes because it has 200kg more to cart round. Same sort of power to weight. I do love the car but still get torn when I see C5s (don't like the C6), principally on PH runs when it tends to look like a two storey building next to the Vette and TVR. It still gets more looks than the Vette ever did though. People love Mustangs.

That is true, my Mustang has had more looks, thumbs up from other motorists, shouts of "nice car" or "look at that" and people coming up to me and talking when I park up (!) than all 3 of my Corvettes put together.

To be honest I've never known anything like it.

I'm looking forward to improving my car, piece by piece, and enjoying it even more!!!

P.S. Cheers for the compliment!
