Thanks to James and his team at Atlantic Sports Cars... I have a new hood on my car. And I'm very pleased with the results. It's an aftermarket Cevinis hood. 'Eleanor' style. I am more than pleased with the finish of the hood, and ASC managed to get a superb match with the paint on my car (the hood was painted separately from the car as well!). See pics...

Paint match...

Do you mind me asking how much it was, fully painted? Looks stunning - transforms the car. Also, have you lowered your car - looks good and what type of wheels do you have?

Cheers

Hi Matt, no problem...

The hood was £790 all in, including VAT. So that was to purchase the hood, paint it, stripe it and then fitting to the car. All the work was done by Atlantic Sports Cars in Luton.

The wheels are 20" Shelby Razors, 9" wide, +24 offset. Tyres are 255/35 series. The rolling diameter is the same as stock. The suspension is lowered by using Eibach 'Sportline' springs. They are the lowest in the Eibach range of replaceable springs. Shocks and Struts are a Ford Racing Performance Parts kit. Strut bearings are Steeda Heavy Duty Strut Bearings.

At the very least (and at the cheapest possible price), you will need the Eibach Sportline springs and an adjustable camber bolt kit to achieve the desired lowering at the front. At the rear you will need an adjustable panhard rod to re-center the axle after lowering (easy to install). This I successfully used for just over a year on my own car.

Eventually, you might find that the standard Ford strut bearing may begin 'popping' when turning the steering at low speed. This is because of the increased angle (and load) of the strut after lowering the car. The Steeda HD strut bearings will resolve this. The bonus is that these HD bearings also have camber adjustment... which means you can get rid of the weaker camber bolts.

The standard shocks are not too bad with these lowering springs as well. It's perfectly useable, but can be a little bouncy. The FRPP struts/shocks kit give a surprisingly good ride, but are nice and stiff when it comes to working the suspension. The car feels so much more planted after fitting these.

The Mustang is very easy to work on. Everything you've read here, and the upgraded brakes on my car have all been fitted by me. So if you are mechanically inclined, do the work yourself and save a shed load of money.

Lastly, as low as it is. I've never experienced any rubbing of the tyres on the arches. Nothing at all. It does clear speed bumps, although you do have to take them slowly.

Cheers
