Hello all,

After being a long time reader of this forum, I thought I'd finally join up. And, I need some advice.
I got my 07 GT in May, and it's coming up to the 5k service. About a year ago whilst researching I rang my local ford dealer who said they could do the servicing no problem. However when I checked again recently they said they could only do the service if I could get the parts...

Does anyone know what parts are needed for the 5k service, and / or where I could get them from?

Ta.

I approached Ford when I bought mine last year and they were able to get the parts no problem.
However I ended up going to a Mustang specialist as he knew the cars inside out, unlike Ford UK whereby most of them probably don't know them that well.

Cheaper also, I pay £170 for a full service which consisted of:

Oil filter
air filter
fuel filter
pollen filter
microfilter all changed

and of course an oil change with all the usual fluid checks and top ups

All this from the guy who supplied the mustangs for that special edition of Top Gear!

Shop around, check with other owners in your area and see where they go.

Indeed, new car or not, I'd rather go to a Mustang or American car specialist in your area. That's what I'll be doing next summer.

I'm sure there are plenty of others, but I've used these guys before when I bought a Capri off them a couple of years back. I'm sure they'd do servicing.

Isn't 5k service only a oil change anyway?
I use a local garage and he's ordered the parts from Amercian Carriage Company no problem for all my services.
£15k service requires an air filter change - standard mondeo air filter worked I believe!
Honestly servicing s197's is not a problem (oh and just replaced my original Pirelli P Zero Nero's at Kwikfit for £496 all in after 32k miles - now that's cheap motoringbiggrin)

Should be replacing mine in January. Buying the tyres (or should that be tires?) in the States and should cost less than half what they will here (inc vat and import duties). Oh yes, checked in luggage will be 4 tyres wink

And front discs and pads in my carry on!

For the 5K service you only need oil and filter change and the oil filter is a Mondeo V6 (about £10 from you local Ford dealer) and Halfords was doing a good deal on Castrol Magntec (5/30 fully Synthetic) for £21 for 4 lites. As you need 6 lites buy three and you have enough oil for your next service as well
