I've just reserved a Mustang convertible for a holiday, and noticed it specifys the boot can carry one large suitcase or two small.

Can someone quantify this for me into approximate terms as we'll be taking one standard size suitcase, and one large holdall (wheeled). The two can just fit in the boot of my S3.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Well, a couple of years back we hired a previous generation (SN95 nerd ) convertible for a two week holiday. We had one large "rigid" suitcase, one smallish overnight suitcase (the ones that fit in an overhead locker on a plane) and two rucksacks. It was a tight squeeze but they all fitted.

The new Mustang (S197 nerd) is even bigger, so I'm sure you'll have no problem.

BTW, the roof does not seem to impede on the bootspace when it's down.

Have fun cool

Did the same myself in Florida earlier this year. Me the missus, and my youngest lad.

You'll probably get the standard size suitcase in the boot, but nothing much else apart from a limited amount of small soft luggage, e.g. camera bags, duty free, etc. It's not so much the stated capacity limits, but the physical opening size that limits what you can put in.

Was quite funny having to put down the top and drop the other two cases into the free rear seat. Dams sight easier than trying to cram them in the back of a coupe.

Hi Fidgits

I'm seem to be one of the few New Convertible owners in the UK (i.e. hairdresser!!!) so live with one of these cars everyday

Boot will take a full sized hard case (32 inch Samsonite or similar) - I have one of the biggest Samsonites you can get, and it just goes in - don't expect it to take anything else though.

Alternatively have made several trips with 2 decent sized "rolling" bags - bigger than would be allowed as cabin baggage and 2 decent size laptop bags in the boot.

Back seats are decent size - about the same as an Audi A4 Cab or BMW 3 Series Cab - so you can get another big suitcase in there or multiple small bags - easiest is to open roof to gain access to drop bags in.

Previous post is correct - there is no ingress of roof into boot space, you have the same capacity roof up or down

Cheers

I too rented a Mustang convertible in the US this summer. And I too managed to fit one of Samsonites biggest hard cases in the boot. I also managed to get my camera bag and a couple of other small bags into the boot and used the back seat for other cases. As previously said, getting cases in the back seat is made easier by having the top down. I wouldn't fancy trying to get the same load into the back of a coupe!

You shouldn't have any problems at all.
