Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a specialist in Berkshire/Buckinghamshire who would undertake a part restoration of a '67 Fastback. The car has not turned a wheel in 10 or so years, though its been dry stored and the body work is sound. Will need a little cosmetic work (unfortunately someone put a suroof in at some point) but the main concern is the engine and running gear.

The car is solid and looks great just sat in a garage (very mad max with 1/2 inch of dust all over it!)...we dont want to turn it into a garage queen but would have some funds to put into it in order to get it roadworthy.

Thanks,

Ross

Can't think of anyone in Berks/Bucks, although I know of a few people around there doing their own restorations! Roy Holmes at the Mustang Workshop in Hook is a bit further south but is highly recommended. http://www.mustangworkshop.co.uk/

I would suggest you sign up to the Mustang Owners Club forum for a better response.

Cheers Shellz,

The plan is to go halves on the car with a friend who's farther currently has it in storage...its a beauty but just not been run for years. I'll check out Mustangworkshop, I know Hook pretty well and its not a million miles away from us.

I'd love to do much fo the work myself but I'm not the most mechanically minded individual so I think my job will be more financial/buffing the chrome!

Thanks again

He does do good work and he's a nice bloke too. He partly got me the Saxondale gig (although that's not why I recommend him!) and he owned the lime gold Shelby used in the Top Gear Mustang special a few years ago - brilliant television!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QltVaQtCsMA

Sounds like a good project Ross. Mine is going to need a fair amount of bodywork in the near future and I too would love to be able to do it myself but lack of knowledge and garage space usually limits my input to writing cheques!!

However, they are surprisingly simple mechanically and I'm slowly building confidence to give things a go and do simple jobs.

Second that - have had mine serviced there for 18 mths and Roy very knowledgeable, and always willing to show you around. He has done many concours restorations on some very, very desirable Mustangs and comes well recommended.

For info, there's a feature on one of Roy's restorations in this month's Classic American.

I'll support that too, Roy has done all the servicing and minor alterations for me, very nice guy and really knows his stuff

That's handy to know. I'll be needing somewhere to service my car and I'd just assumed Roy wouldn't look after the newer stuff.

I'll keep a look out for that - neither my mate or I are very good with a spanner so we'll leve the complicated stuff to the experts.
