4 seater sports cars
Discussion
If anyone knows me, then they will know that I usually frequent the TVR Wedge forums.
Well, sadly my wedge is up for sale due to lack of seats for my expanding family.
There are a few options .. one being a Portsche, the second, and one im fairly new to .. is the option of a Mustang.
Now I would like to retain the fun associated with roof off motoring, but then again... a coupe also has a certain appeal. As long as it has 4 seats and enough boot space for the annual trip to Le Mans, then i dont really care.
Anyway, Ive seen Top Gear and the Hamster review on the Mustang, and the wife is quite taken by the car. I hope to take a trip over the next few weeks to a few dealers and actiually sit in / get the feel for a mustang.
Money isnt really an issue, nor is timescale. I like the saleen mustangs, and also the Shelby 500's but then again, the Rousche cars look nice too.
What is the general consensus ? what do people normally go for in the UK ? are there only Left Handers available ?
so many questions....
I Live down in Andover, Hampshire so any localish garages anyone reccommend me visiting #?

Hello
Had a TVR 350i myself a few years back, so I know the allure of the V8
Get yourself over to www.s197.co.uk
It's a new site dedicated to the '05+ Mustang. You'll get plenty of info there.
I'm picking up my Mustang on Sunday....can't wait!
Edited to say - avoid a certain car dealer off the M3 in Hampshire.....they'll get you into an overpriced V6!
Oh, and they all start life as LHD although some have been converted to RHD once over here. Most US car fans prefer to sit on the left.

As mentioned, I'll be picking my newly purchased car up on Sunday, so I'm happy for you to come and have a look at mine in a few weeks.
wwws197.co.uk has only been setup for about 3 weeks, but there's plenty of helpful people on there. Most of us are also members of the Mustang Owners Club www.mocgb.net

There's a black one for sale at the moment on www.mocgb.net and he only wants £15500 without the plate. That's fantastic value for a V8 and would give you a greater margin to upgrade - strongly recommended are a new set of shocks and lowering springs (both available from Roush or Eibach in the UK and from there on, the world is your oyster.

They're all LHD. There are RHD conversions but they're expensive and you won't ever see that money again and the quality may be suspect. I know several owners who have moved to Mustang ownersghip from 911s and to my knowledge haven't regretted it.
The important distinction here is that the Mustang has 2 good size seats in the rear and not two ledges like most 2+2s. It's not a decision I've ever seen anyone regret. A little further down the line, they are also easily and reliably supercharged to give you 400bhp plus. Add to that the fact that sercing is a cinch and it takes Mondeo V6 oil filters and you're set for a low cost maintenance bill. You can even do it yourself.
If money is no object and you fancy importing one, I can recommend something a bit unusual - the Steeda Screaming Q with up to 525hp. Never seen one in the UK and Steeda have won more races in the US than Saleen and Roush put together.

lhd isn't so much a problem in the uk. the biggest issue is running to the car and jumping in the passenger seat and looking a bit of a tit. when i was looking for my GT, most of the cars i found were autos, which isn't as bad as it sounds as its self learning and it does learn how you like to drive. if you are looking to sit in traffic all day, then auto is also the one to get as the clutch is heavy.
also, dealers have a habit of selling the car currently on the boat, so when you get down to the dealer, they'll show you a nice picture, and give you a landing date, and then an SVA date etc.
the M3 dealer - hmm, yeah, interesting place. lets just say they didn't have a V6 GT in stock. wonder why sigh. is the Mustang range really that complicated? (not that i was asking about a V6 in the first place either). plus they had a lot of cars when i was there with the incorrect offset on the chrome wheels. the wheels stuck out from the arches like a Hot Wheels toy. i bought elsewhere.
Hi matey. The meet's moved a little further south down the A34 to Burghclere, but that's on the linked thread. Be good to see you there.
There's also the Goodwood Breakfast Club this Sunday. It's Americana although there's a large number of Mustangs going. Anyone can turn up, even Mondeos, although you'll be asked to park in the "public" section.
Cheers
