Shelby GT 2007.

I assume you are referring to the Shelby GT500?
We supplied a heavily modified one to a client recently , i personally thought it was a fantatsic car but you will find many here preferring the cheaper Saleens / Steeda & Roush cars that are predominantly based around the 4.6 V8 GT mainly due the weight advantage this car has as well as the pricing factor!
If you want any advice on the car by all means get in touch direct and ill help anyway i can

There are now two main Shelby cars though. One is the GT500 but the one I think we are talking about is the Shelby GT which is non supercharged and basically a visual package with some minor engines mods such as Cold air kit etc.....
At the end of the day there are many different variants of the Mustang for someone to take their pick of. I would advise going for the one that does it for you. Dont think about residuals but which one ticks all the boxes you have.

If you want to go fast with a standard car forget it!
Get a modified 4.6 car, something like a good Roush, instead.
How fast is fast? Sub 5 seconds? 4? The standard car is no slouch (5.1 to 60) and whilst it's no BMW, it actualy handles rather well.Get a modified 4.6 car, something like a good Roush, instead.
Just how many Musatngs have you driven other than your mates GT500? - just curious.

My mildy modified GT feels fast enough. The 'standard' GT has enough grunt to stay with a 996 Carrera 4S. Is that not a fast car?

300hp is a fast car. It runs mid 13's over the 1/4 with a good driver. That's fast. The stock car is a bit soft on the standard springs and does need upgrading for fast road work. A supercharged car is another division of performance - the Vortech lower output version chalked up a 13 second quarter and the HO version has apparently run 3.6 to 60 on slicks but it would be a traction limited mid-4 time on road tyres I suspect.
The Shelby GT is really an overpriced GT with dress-up parts and a Shelby badge which you pay heavily for.
The GT500 is fast but has a big weight handicap of something like 400lbs since it uses the iron rather than the alloy engine.
The cheapest way to go fast is a GT you upgrade yourself. A supercharger will lift you to very fast car levels. The problem with Shelbys of either type is that US dealers are currently charging big premiums for the privilege of owning one.

Thank you all for the comments.
Yesterday I had a look at the only 2007 Shelby GT Mustang that is currently in Holland.
White car is like new with 5200 miles on the clock and has Antigua Registration !!!
Due to funny taxsystem overhere it will cost serious money to get it on dutch plates.
The owner is asking 50.000 Euro's which is way to much in relation to the newprice of 42.700 US Dollars he payed in 2006.He probably thinks he has gold in his hands.
As former owner of a 1966 Hertz Shelby I am still dreaming of buying this one-off.
Will be continued.

Interesting, I'm also looking at this model. I'm moving over to the states in July, and doing car hunting etc this week. Just test drove a 2008 Shelby GT yesterday.... it was fantastic! As mentioned, it seems expensive for what it is.... guess that's the 'Shelby Tax'. I was offered a brand new one for $42000 including all the taxes etc, and although quite a bit more than my budget, I am very very tempted.
It really does scream 'F**K OFF' with the styling
The sound is sublime too.

He Otto if you like the car buy it! However I dont think the Shelby GT offer's that much for the price over a standard Mustang GT. You could buy a used low mile GT and then add a supercarger for real extra power and add suspention/brake upgrades with the money you save.....But he, if YOU like the car buy it it 's still a Shelby mustang and it does look good!
