I was thinking of importing a few items from the US to sell on, its all high quality licensed CNC machined and triple chrome billet ali or anodised

do you think there's a market for a £50 oil cap?
or are there to many doing this already

Given that those are available from www.mgwltd.com and they accept UK credit cards and deliver within days, why would anyone pay (vastly) more to buy in the UK? I can see the point where the US supplier won't send stuff to the UK but not in this case.

There is some stuff, for example short billet antennae that some ebat suppliers won't send to the UK which might be a better idea but I doubt there's any volume in it. I think these days too many American car owners are switched on to getting stuff from the US at $2 to the £.

others and i have had some good stuff off George, think i posted on here some time ago about his quality products and fab service. Take the oil cap for instance $40 then another $10 for posting/handling, import duties then posting on over here, like you say with the good $ rate nows the time I know there are people who dont import themselves. Think i may try a few parts off different suppliers on ebay as there doesnt seem a lot of decent aftermarket parts listed.

Maybe i'm not thinking big enough and should just bring some cars in though that market must be getting tougher to

I find if you buy in smaller quantities. you avoid the import duty and given that UPS rag you £13, it's worth the extra postage.

ebay has completely saturated the billet market.

i was looking at doing a small production run of motorcycle handlebar ends, but there are companies selling the finished product cheaper than i can buy the aluminium in for - and thats at commercial wholesale prices..

i purchaced some billet air con controll knobs for my mustang from ebay, less than £20 deliverd, arrived in a few days, and fantastic quality..

i absolutely hate buying parts i can make myself, but to be honest, for aluminium parts, its just not worth my time, even for my own car..
