Just got back from a quick blast, and I get a 'Engine Temp Warning' come up in the driver display. Sure enough, needle into the red, and steam coming from the bonnet. I checked, and the fan didn't seem to be working, but inspected the fuse/relays, and everything seems to be intact. I've lost quite an amount of coolant, looking at the state of the drive!
I'm new to this Mustang lark, and as yet haven't made contact with dealers/mechanics etc.

Any advice welcomed......

The fan(s) is easy enough to test, disconnect the battery (so as to not set codes) unplug at the first connector and use jumper wires from the battery.

Have you checked the relays for resistance both energized and de-energized with a DVOM? Even though they click they may be broken inside.

Hi,

This part allows fan to cut on and off at certain temps also measured from engine coolant temp sensor back thru processor. We had to replace on a 2005 mustang Gt a month or two back the car had the same symtoms and this cured it. This can be ordered either direct from Ford in the u.s which is what we did or through u.s automotive in bedford 01234 273 155 and speak to Pete stafford say James from Atlantic sent you and he will take care of you. Please note this may not be the problem and I would have a mechanic check it out before you order parts.

Always check the radiator cap is on properly as that will cause it to boil. Also check all the hoses are secure.

There is a wire that some times rubs through, right at the back of engine, passenger side(coolant temp sensor] worth a check !

if the thermostat is jammed shut theres a possibility coolant can not flow to sensor in radiator, therefore not switch on,is the radiator hot all the way through ? also does it run slightly hot while driving?

Thanks for the replies Chaps - lots to look at then...!
Not really one for things 'non mechanical' especially electrics. I'll see if I can see anything obvious, and then report to my local 'specialist'.....

Thanks thumbup
