Hi All, has anybody heard of a company called **** *** *****? I've been on their website and they seem to do self-drive hire on Mustangs and other yank motors. I was wondering if anybody had used them? If so what were the cars like and are they ok to deal with??

Not wishing to sound cynical, but what part of his question was plugging the company, and why wouldn't you be enquiring about a company near to where you live? If it's now forbidden to even mention a company name without being hung drawn and quartered on little evidence, what is the point of these forums again?

My question was genuine, yes it's my first posting - in fact it was the reason i joined the forum. It seems some people are rather too quick to judge and somewhat petty minded, but many thanks to the people who didn't jump to conclusions and somebody for defending my question. I've since spoken to **** *** ***** who seem very accomodating and reasonable hence i shall be using their services in the future.

Steve - perhaps you'd like to have a look at this link:

www.luxurycarcare.co.uk/UsefulContacts.html

Scroll down to the contact info for 'Alex Rendle' at 'Wish You Could' Prestige hire - coincidence? I think not.

The point of the forums is for enthusiasts to share experience, not for companies to try and flog their services. Please do a bit of research before becoming 'Captain Keyboard' in future. furious

AlexR - petty minded? No. Seen this all before, yes.

If you want to advertise, then contact Ted about rates.

That's fair enough obviously but on the forums I have moderated in the past I wouldn't lock or alter threads without explaining why to anyone who reads it. It needn't be the responsibility of every other forum member to figure out why something is done, because they won't, they will just get the wrong impression.

Go for it. Maybe the club could liaise between members who would like to swap cars for a weekend, although the insurance implications would be tricky and I certainly wouldn't trust anyone with mine

The thread wasn't locked, the post was edited to remove the company name only as it broke the advertising rules of PH. If I had added the rationale, it would have defeated the object as the company name would have been made evident.

Still, you forced my hand on that one.

Hello - I have just been notified by a customer that there has been some kind of activity/bad-mouthing regarding my company on your site. Please be advised that we are genuine and have no wish to get involved in any disputes that individuals may have with pistonheads or its associated chat forums. I am a massive car fan (hence the company) and love the passionate debates about what is best (I even know people who like triumphs!!!) but i will not tolerate any slander/libel aimed at my company. Keep up the good work; Alex Rendle, Managing Director, Wish You Could Ltd.

<sigh>

Well Aleksander Johnatahn Reinsald - errrr... why did you register your profile with the name 'Alex Rendle' and state that you were Managing Director of wish******* and link to the W.Y.C. website?

This started perfectly reasonably when I questioned your post, which was an obvious attempt to drive traffic to your car hire business. No problem with that, just pay for the advertising to support this forum like everyone alse has to.

Please don't get get all uptight about being rumbled. You're more than welcome here, just don't try and bypass the rules which you agreed to when you signed up for the forums - deal?

By the way - registering multiple profiles is also a no-no. So that's 2 strikes

Alex - there has been no slander, no libel and indeed, no adverse comments aimed at your company at all.

The simple fact is that if you wish to advertise it on Pistonheads, then please speak to the site owner about rates to do so.

As I said, you're more than welcome here, but please abide by the rules of posting that you agreed to when you registered.

Thanks.

PS. You can register as many profiles as you wish (though more than one is also not allowed), but we can still tell where they come from.
